Das Café in der Gartenakademie — Restaurant in Berlin

We visited home and family in Berlin during June and made a trip to the Botanische Garten (which was awful due to constructions and horrible service there). The cafe at the Garten lacks everything, so we quickly searched for an alternative, and we ended up coming here.

There have been some bad reviews lately, but our experience in June was great. Even though we didn't have reservations, we were promptly seated, as a party of six, which included two young (very active and loud) boys. But the staff did not let this unsettle them, instead, they were helpful and patient as we evaluated the menu. Everything we got was amazing. Most of our party got the Apfelstrudel with ice cream. I had an iced coffee and a delicious torte. All the dished looked appealing and tasted great. The grounds were well-kept, and, as many others have said, the entire area outside of the cafe was wonderful to walk through.

My primary recommendation for improvements would be restrooms. If you need one while at the cafe, is quite a walk and nowhere laid out clearly on how to find them.

This was the most beautiful experience I had in a long time ✨! The cakes are fantastic, easily one of the best I had. Unfortunately breakfast is not served past 12 (if I could wish for something I’d wish for a longer brunch option + some extended menu). But we also highly enjoyed their English High-Tea experience with some girl friends, the selection was very well put together and beautifully presented. It was overall simply perfect!

Also I can only highlight how incredibly friendly and welcoming all of their staff were!! Friendliness does go a long way.

And space wise, the cafe has enough space for anyone, even on a busy holiday day and even without reservation. There is also a fenced outdoor area in the green under the trees and dogs 🐶 are also allowed.

Pay is easy and simple by card and you can stroll through their blooming gardens and shops afterwards, which is an absolute delight.
