Elit Simit — Restaurant in Berlin

Good diverse breakfast menu: lots of veggies on the plate, totally liked the idea of pairing apple slices with parsley; delicious sesame rings (simit); didn‘t quite like the scrambled eggs quality though, tasted not that fresh. Dinner: it was late, so they didn‘t have sarma (stuffed vine leaves) with minced meat and walnuts, which I was informed of 20 minutes after the order. Being asked if I would prefer manti (dumplings) instead, I still felt like giving a try to another sarma variation, with minced meat and chickpeas. What I was brought instead was just ordinary heated vine leaves stuffed with rice, without any trace of mince, totally tasting like those from a can. I was charged exactly the same price as for the original order, under the pretext that a small yogurt dip...

It's ok for a quick breakfast. But it's not special. The Turkish börek didn't taste freshly and homemade. The tea is served in big glasses. It's so Turkish and then again nothing is really Turkish. They have a separate smoking room which is totally unnecessary and disgusting when u think of this place as a breakfast place. So I wasn't amused, there are definitely better Turkish breakfast places around that area....

Ein nettes türkisches Café, genau richtig für ein reichhaltiges und dabei günstiges Frühstück. Leckeres Menemen, ein Simit dazu - schnell serviert und lecker. Die Kuchen sind ganz ok, kurabiye (türkisches Gebäck) ist aber super lecker.

Die Salate meide ich jedoch seit einem Vorfall. In der Theke standen zwei mit Folie bedeckte Salate, die unübersehbar bis zur Hälfte verschimmelt waren! Ich habe die Verkäuferin sofort angesprochen, und anstatt schockiert zu sein und die Sachen sofort wegzuräumen, guckt sie mich an und antwortet allen ernstes: "aber das wird ja nicht verkauft, das ist nur Deko". Sie wusste wohl nichts über die Ausbreitung der Schimmelsporen. Aus dem oberen Regal in der selben Theke werden nämlich einige Sachen schon verkauft, die gegessen werden, wie zum Beispiel offen stehende Schalen mit Oliven und Pasten, die ich seitdem ebenfalls meide. Dann habe ich den Einwand gebracht, dass die anderen Gäste das auch sehen, und dass das den Laden bestimmt nicht populärer macht. Sie hat erneut ihr Deko-Argument wiederholt. Als ich eine Stunde später gegangen bin, standen diese zwei Salate immer noch da. Wäre an diesem Tag das Gesundheitsamt da gewesen, wäre der Laden sofort dicht...
