Edit 1: Since the owner suspects the honesty of my review, I was there this summer, 30th of July Was very excited to finally try the legendary restaurant, originally from Naples. Then I realized quickly it had nothing to do with the original restaurant, merely just using the name Service was horrendous, waiting for half an hour just to get our drinks ordered. Waiters sitting behind the bar using their private phones and not being attentive to customers. The cocktails were weak and watery, another disappointment. I still had hope that the pizzas will make up for the bad experience so far The Margherita and Napoli pizzas were huge and really tasty to be honest, the ingredients were very fresh, especially the tomato sauce. However, the pizza I got with ham, got me speechless. It was topped processed ham at best, tasted like plastic, something that's not worthy to be on top of an authentic Neapolitan pizza If I go again, I will mostly just go for the Margherita and would just order it to go to avoid the long waiting times, and the slow unfriendly service

I've been wanting to try Da Michele for a while and finally I managed to go. The atmosphere is nice, service is friendly, and the pizza was great. We tried a Margherita and a Vesuvio. I liked the Margherita better because with less mozzarella and a great tomato sauce the flavors were more balanced. The pecorino cheese they add is a great touch too. The pizza here is a bit different from all the other pizza napoletana you can find in Berlin and I think I like it. I was slightly less impressed by the dessert. Unfortunately, they were out of tiramisù so I could not try that. I tried the delizia al limone and while it wasn't bad at all I have to side I like better the delizie I tried in other places. Maybe this one is more authentic/traditional but it wasn't my favorite. I'd take half a star away for this but because I can't then I'll give it the full five stars. Prices I think are ok, considering that they are in line with what you pay in other pizzerie but the size of the pizza is much bigger. Overall good experience and I think I'll go back.

Cue the Julia Roberts flashbacks! Da Michele is one of world’s most famous pizzeria for its appearance in Eat, Pray, Love film starring Julia Roberts, whereby while eating pizza, she declares that she’s no longer going to feel guilt or worry about gaining a few pounds. I recommend to watch the film if you still haven’t. The original pizzeria is in Naples, but the chain has grown and now has replicas in different cities across the globe. The pizzas at Da Michele are so big they cannot even fit into one plate, thanks to its thin and light dough, allowing you to really savour the toppings. They differ from the Neapolitan style, which is characterised by its fluffy, and airy crust. We ordered: Bufala (16,90€), and 2 gourmet pizzas: D.O.C (18,00€) and Capricciosa (17,50€). The dessert selection is tiny but very local, and I loved their Tiramisu Watch the full review in video on instagram marywave foodie

I felt sick afterwards and I spent the night over the toilet. This should say enough already. Honestly I don't know how you're rated best pizza in South Berlin, I need to say that obviously none of these guys are Italian or tasted a real Italian pizza. It's actually a kind of insult that you called that stuff "authentic Italian pizza". Some Turkish guy in Neukölln is better than this. And despite my name I happen to be Italian, so I know what's food. The dough was the worst part. It was all floppy, impossible to eat it without cutlery. The center was almost mushy. And the crust? Chewy. So disappointing. The pizzeria was empty the time we came but I don't know if they got mad since we all ordered just simple margherita but they served us those plates you could tell were made with no care. Mine had the cheese just on one side. And for such a small menu (which I'm totally fine with..) with these big big prices (again something I'D be fine with..if the quality justified the price) you'd expect to have something nicely served. Really bad. And I want to underline that what brought me to write this review it's that I was sick all night. This is the real bad part. How the hell did you rise your...

A real Italian place (and even most guests were Italians) which means two things - the food is really "like there", and to my knowledge and perception it's true, and - not so good - that you feel out of place. I was met by the waiter with a kind of patronizing look at me (something like "boy, what are you doing here, you can't afford it") and only after I started talking, she placed me to the table right in the middle abd very close to other guests (who seemed a little wondered about that too). Overall everyone was polite but a little uptight, and I had the feeling that other guests (especially Italians) were not getting such a treatment. It's so common to be discriminated against even in middle tier restaurants if you come as a single basic looking young man (and I can't express enough how silly it is to judge people by their looks in a city like Berlin). Also, I hate to say this, but it seems to be especially true for Italian places, I check it again and again and get this feeling way too often. Of course, everything I tell here is only my perception, but as a "slightly weird" and sensitive person I have enough experience in...

Unfortunately i can only give 5 stars. I need to apologize from them for giving 5 stars also for some other restaurants.

Update: The pizza was quite dry today. Normally, they throw the pizza away if it doesn't satisfy their standards. I guess this was not the case today, which was a little bit disappointing after waiting for a long time outside for a free table. I also checked the pizzas at other tables. They also looked overcooked. It was a very crowded day. Maybe they couldn't handle too many customers (which is still a problem). Apart from that, we ordered white wine and the glasses they brought were dirty. After sending them back, they brought new glasses which were still dirty. While cleaning one of the glasses myself, i warned the waiter that the other glass he brought was a red wine glass and he said "yeah sorry" while he/they could simply quickly wash the white wine glass he brought and give to us. This might not be important for everyone but it was not so nice for me. I've been there 4 times before. I left always happily, however...
