They offer a broad range of food from different regions in Indonesia. I must say the taste is authentic. I have tried other Indonesian restaurants here in Berlin, but almost all of them are westernised. This is so far the only one that have the same taste as if I went back home to Indonesia. The sambal is on point (and I can't tell enough how important is the perfect sambal taste if you come from a spicy region in Indonesia like me or just simply love chili, because it's not one sambal recipe fits all) and the sambal they have can give you the feeling of home. Everything else you can just ask the waiter if you're not sure or in case you don't eat spicy food. Don't be afraid to try anything from the menu. I've tried different ones every time I visit, and although a few of the ingredients aren't as fresh, it's safe to say that all the choices will make you satisfied. The staffs are quite friendly, some of them just a little slow. The price is good for Berlin. Affordable, relatively cheap depends on what you order. For example, the Nasi Goreng Ayam is just under € 7 which is quite a bargain since the taste will not disappoint you. You can even get less than € 30 for full meal (with drinks and starter) for 2 people. Bear in mind that most of the time they bring the food one by one, so if you want to come with a large group of friends or just want to eat together at the same time, better ask the waiter to do so or patiently waiting, it usually takes about 5-10 minutes for the rest of the food to come. Also, they only accept cash so make sure you have it before you go because the ATM is not that close and it's Euronet/Euronext. This restaurant is easy to find, there's a bus stop nearby and if you walk a little there's also a subway station. The place is a bit outdated and looking a little unsanitary, hence why I only give it 4 star. But if you do want Indonesian food, I highly...
Read moreI feel incredibly fortunate to have discovered this culinary gem — an Indonesian restaurant that not only serves delicious food but also delivers a rich and memorable cultural experience. From the moment I stepped in, the warm atmosphere and traditional ambiance greeted me kindly, making me feel at home even though I was far from my hometown.
The menu is diverse and reflects the vast richness of Indonesian cuisine, featuring dishes from Java, Sumatra, to Sulawesi. Each dish is prepared with care, using fresh ingredients and authentic spices that are deeply infused in every bite. I personally highly recommend their Beef Rendang — slow-cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with complex layers of spices. Equally impressive is their Chicken Satay with peanut sauce, served warm with rice cakes (lontong) and a tantalizing chili sambal.
The service at this restaurant is also truly commendable. The staff are polite, attentive, and well-informed about every item on the menu. They not only serve with professionalism but also happily explain the origin and traditional preparation of each dish, adding an educational value to the dining experience.
The interior decor is also captivating. A blend of traditional ornaments, soft gamelan music playing in the background, and warm lighting creates a serene and inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying a peaceful meal.
Overall, this restaurant offers more than just food — it offers a journey of taste and culture that touches the heart. I would gladly return, and without hesitation, I recommend this place to anyone seeking to enjoy the true richness of Indonesian cuisine in an authentic and...

To start, I tried the Tempeh Mendoan, a fried tempeh appetizer. It was freshly fried and impeccably crispy, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients and expert preparation.
Moving on to the mains, the Nas Gorang with chicken was a flavor explosion! The blend of spices and textures was simply divine, leaving me at a loss for words.
Next, I sampled the Ketoprak with tofu, bean sprouts, and cucumber, topped with peanut sauce. Each component was perfectly balanced, creating a harmonious medley of flavors and textures.
The Rendang, a beef stew wrapped in banana leaf, was a highlight of the meal. The richness of the dish, paired with fragrant rice, created a symphony of flavors that left me craving for more.
I also enjoyed the Ayam Penyet, a fried chicken dish with spicy sambal sauce. The chicken was tender, and the sambal provided a fiery kick that elevated the dish to another level.
In summary, every dish I tried at Nusantara Restaurant was outstanding. From the Tempeh Mendoan to the Ayam Penyet, each dish showcased the authenticity and excellence of Indonesian cuisine.
