Orta Mezze&Bar — Restaurant in Berlin

Our experience at this restaurant, unfortunately, did not meet our expectations. While the food was ok, the portions were small. On top of that, they charged double the price for the traditional Turkish drink rakı compared to other modern Turkish restaurants of similar quality. Yes, you read it right—double the price!! (For instance, a double shot of Beylerbeyi Rakı is €11 in other restaurants, but here it’s €20, while the bottle itself is just €15 in the supermarket). This, in my opinion, is nothing short of a rip-off.

When we tried to pay the bill, they told us their card machine wasn’t working and asked us to withdraw cash from an ATM. When we said we wouldn’t do that due to extra bank fees, their card machine suddenly started working!!! We ended up paying €190 for two people, an amount that could easily get you a meal at a Michelin Guide-listed restaurant without a star. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, neither locals nor tourists. This restaurant seriously needs to reevaluate its pricing policy and ethical standards!! I had an unforgettable experience at an amazing Turkish mezze restaurant in Berlin! From the warm welcome at the entrance to the captivating atmosphere inside, this place left a lasting impression. Wir waren zu sechst im Rahmen einer kleinen Weihnachtsfeier. Am meisten enttäuscht waren wohl unsere beiden türkischen Kolleg*innen 😀 Man erwartet irgendwie etwas komplett anderes. Die Portionen sind sehr klein und dafür aber echt teuer. Zwei Gerichte von der eh schon überschaubaren Karte gab es gar nicht erst, dies wurde aber erst mitgeteilt als die Wahl auf ausgerechnet eben diese fiel, was irgendwie blöd ist. Geschmacklich waren alle Gerichte toll, wirklich satt war aber niemand und von der Dessertkarte fiel die Wahl dann leider wieder auf nicht verfügbare Köstlichkeiten. Die Kellnerin wirkte etwas überfordert und war nicht wirklich präsent. Bei Getränkebestellungen zb wartete sie gar nicht alle Anwesenden ab sondern rannte immer gleich wieder los, alles irgendwie komisch obwohl das Restaurant an diesem Abend spärlich besetzt und wir mit 6 Personen der größte von 3 oder 4 Tischen waren. Als es ans bezahlen ging, war - man hat es ja schon oft in anderen Rezensionen gelesen - das EC Gerät defekt. Ein Schelm, wer Böses denkt 😉 Und zu guter Letzt: Ich weiß, es ist bei Türken nicht üblich, aber wir wollten die Rechnung gern geteilt haben. Hier wurde nicht mal gefragt, geschweige denn unterstützt - nicht sehr gastfreundlich. Alles in Allem leider keinen weiteren Besuch wert, da gibt es deutlich bessere Läden.

Nachtrag zur Antwort des Inhabers: vielen Dank für die ausführliche Antwort auf unsere Kritik. Entgegen Ihrer Annahme hatten wir alle 6 sowohl eine Vor- als auch eine Hauptspeise. Natürlich ist ihr Laden sehr übersichtlich, umso mehr schade, dass ihre Kellnerin nicht so präsent war und wir uns sogar gegen 22:30 nicht mehr willkommen fühlten, da fleißig geräumt und geputzt wurde.
