I’ve been reviewing restaurants for many years now and usually only post when I have something positive to say. Honestly, I wasn’t planning to review this one at all… until I saw that my friend’s review of our visit here was removed. That’s when I felt I should share our experience as well.
Last Sunday, around 11:45 am, I came here for brunch with two friends. The location is beautiful, right on the lake, so we were looking forward to a relaxed and sunny brunch.
When we arrived, the patio was almost empty (just two other tables taken). We asked if there was a free table, and the server offered us what was probably the least appealing spot: in a corner behind the stairs, right next to the boundary fence. Since it was a sunny day, I asked politely if we could take a table with a lake view. The server made a face and said, “Okay, but you’ll have it until 13:00.” We agreed, happy to at least enjoy the sun.
We sat down and waited… for 20 minutes, with no menus. Finally, another server came to take our order. When I said we’d like to see the menu first, he looked visibly annoyed, then brought them over. By the time he returned, it was already 30 minutes into our “allotted” 1 hour and 15 minutes. We tried to order food and drinks together, but he insisted we order drinks first and food later.
The drinks arrived quickly, and then we placed our food order. The food itself was okay but honestly, by then we already felt a strong “you’re not welcome here” vibe.
Once we were done eating, no one came by to clear plates or offer the bill. Eventually, I went to the entrance to ask if we could pay. The server there made another face, as if I had done something wrong by coming up instead of waiting. I went back to my table, and finally a fourth server who was young, friendly, and polite, came to take the payment.
We left feeling disappointed. When we left, the patio and all the “reserved” tables were still vacant. We had been excited to try this place because of its location, but the way we were treated just made us want to leave as soon as possible. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.
Good luck with...
Read moreA lovely new Greek restaurant in Weißensee
To our delight, we discovered during our evening walk that a new restaurant has opened in the Milchhäusen building. We decided to stop by for dinner right away. For a Wednesday evening, the place was surprisingly busy. The tables closest to the lake were reserved, but we still got a nice spot a bit higher up on the terrace. Bonus points for the fact that our small dog was warmly welcomed!
The restaurant renovation has been done beautifully. The interior is stylish and feels high-quality, with careful attention to detail – down to the tableware and cutlery.
We had the moussaka and the gyros dish, and both were excellent. The staff was also incredibly friendly. I would even say this is the best Greek restaurant I’ve been to in Berlin!
It’s wonderful that Weißensee now has a place like this. Hopefully, people will find their way here so the restaurant can thrive. We also noticed they serve breakfast and brunch – we’ll definitely be coming back to try the...
Read moreI had to update my review from 2 months ago. This time my breakfast order got mixed up. I was asking for bacon bagel, but as i was coughing when a waiter came, a belle bagel was ordered instead, which, I accept, was our mistake. Another waiter brought our food, and he saw that I wasn't expecting the one I got. He apologised, took away the belle bagel and later brought the right one. So far so good. Then I paid for the order and gave the tip thinking about the inconvenience and how well it was resolved. Well..apparently it wasn't resolved. The bagel that was taken away was still on my bill plus another one was added. (They could at least have left it to me;) Therefore, 1 shiny star for customer service! The place is still nice, but more customer-friendly practices would...
