AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE - only gave 1 star because zero star was not an option. How can you get fried meat and potatoes so wrong especially when you name your restaurant after this dish?!!! Thank god we didn’t order fish etc - if you can’t even cook schnitzel...it was tasteless and soggy, potatoes were so over cooked they had no potato inside. I couldn’t finish half the plate it was so disgusting. How can the kitchen send out food like that? 18euro dish too! My friend had breadcrumbed oyster mushrooms and couldn’t eat anymore after 2 pieces. Each piece was over cooked & also devoid of any flavour. No one asked us how our meal was despite clearing near full plates of food. Tapas starters were also bad but nowhere near as horrific as mains. Obvs didn’t order dessert. Staff were friendly but completely absent busy cleaning down tables around us. Rhubarb drink was artificial tasting and overly sweet. I can’t think of one saving grace. Sooooo disappointing and can’t fathom its popularity. Perhaps it was a bad night. Perhaps usual chef was off sick and last minute part timer came in. But really, is there no one checking standards when you have to maintain reputation of 2 restaurants? We have high standards of eating but both worked in hospitality industry for years. It wasn’t just an inconsistent night it was damn shameful. We didn’t want to complain and we paid our bill (after waiting ages for attention to get it and then actually pay) as no one even noticed or cared and we didn’t want to cause a fuss but honestly more than anything I am gutted we wasted our last meal here having made a special trip out to the residential Charlottenberg....

We arrived on time for a reservation at 6:30. A cheerful young woman wait staff brought us English menus. The waiter, a young male server brought free beer and bread, and a glass of water (as requested) and then nothing for 15 minutes. We flagged him down and ordered. We requested butter. 30 minutes later we got a bowl of soup but still had no butter. No amount of waving got his attention.
Nearby tables that arrived after us got their entrees before our soup arrived. When they finished their meals we still had not received our entrees.
Tables nearby complained on our behalf, we complained and still the entrees were not delivered for another hour. The waiter casually said “it was a busy night in the kitchen”...and “you got your soup”. The surrounding tables got their food in 20 minutes, not the one hour and 45 minutes we waited. No food is tasty enough to be treated with such diffidence.
Other local Germans intervened on our behalf seeing the complete disregard from our waiter. They said we were being badly treated and it was embarrassing to them

Read moreFood Quality: i was very pleased with the food’s taste and texture. Everything felt very freshly made. The dessert trio is quite interesting, but was not a big fan of the knodel dessert one.
Portions: quite big and very satisfying. We only had main courses and felt quite full. Was very tempting to get some starters but would have suffered later the food coma.
Drinks: many options to pick from (wines, cocktails, spirits, beers), but being a german style restaurant i went for some local draft beers.
Price: $$ for this amount of food and quality, I believe it was very fair pricing. Average to any restaurant of this quality.
Service: very friendly staff, drinks and food was quite fast.
Atmosphere: there’s an amazing terrace outside with a nice view of the river. Inside its cosy and very german style decorated.
Highlights: the terrace, the schnitzel, and of course the welcome shot of beer when you first arrive.
Things to improve: it was a pity to be requested to move inside quite early. Even earlier than the noise rule in place. It was a lovely evening and would have been nice to be allowed outside...
