This review is only for their pick-up service. I’ve eaten in-house and it’s always been pleasant. Last time I ordered it took 45 mins past the confirmed pick up time. Tonight it took an hour past pick-up time and that’s after I checked on it a couple times and told it was going be ready immediately. I ordered a salad with grilled salmon and summer rolls, a fast-ish order. When I finally asked a third time I got the food. I asked how long it had been sitting there because I was waiting an hour. The guys said “I don’t know, sometimes we can’t keep track of all the orders.” :( The salad was wilted as if it had been sitting a long time. I told them I didn’t want the food and left because I was so upset and didn’t want to treat the staff rudely. My issues are: 1. Please give proper waiting times so I can make an informed decision. 2. If the order isn’t ready please don’t just tell me it’s coming up soon so I go away. There needs to be some integrity in making sure the food comes out. 3. The sit-down experience is great and I think they prioritise that, which is fine, but maybe they should just focus on sit-in dining if take-out is overwhelming the staff. Or maybe regulate the take-out orders better and shut off the online ordering system at a certain point. 4. Firstly, the fact that one of their staff confirmed over the phone that we could pay by invoice when we booked, only to backtrack and ask us to pay due to their miscommunication is unacceptable. It created unnecessary stress and confusion, which put a damper on the whole evening.
Furthermore, the waiters were extremely unpolite, which made for a very unpleasant dining experience. There was also confusion with the food orders, which meant that we didn't receive the dishes that we had requested. This left us feeling unsatisfied and let down.
To make matters worse, the service was incredibly slow, which meant that we were left waiting for extended periods of time between courses. This was particularly frustrating given that we had a large group, and it's not unreasonable to expect that the restaurant would be able to manage this.
Overall, my experience at Vietbowl was incredibly disappointing, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The miscommunication about payment, unpolite waiters, confusion with food orders, and slow service all contributed to a truly lackluster evening that I would rather forget. I used to love Viet Bowl... Until I was poisoned. My girlfriend and I shared our only meal of the day here.... We then spent the whole night vomiting explosively and could not sleep.
I vomited 7 times that night and was scatted for the next 2 days.
We both had the Tuna bowl and suffered from Scrombroid poisoning, which only happens in severe mishandling of fish products!!
I called them up the next day and explained what had happened. The person I spoke to was apologetic, friendly and took my contact details, assuring he would investigate and get back to me as soon as possible.
3 weeks forward and no update. I call back to follow up and this time around they request a doctor's note to prove I had good poisoning. Very unapologetic and unfriendly. All of a sudden their reaction went 180°.
