Bollywood Chili — Restaurant in Brunswick

Wow! It is so rare to come across an Indian restaurant in Europe whereby the food tastes closest possible to what I grew up eating in India, and this was just one of that kind!

I ordered the following-

1. plain rice
2. pulao
3. papad
4. pakoda with chutneys
5. dal tadka (medium hot)
6. plain nan
7. plain roti

Priced at €28.50

What stood apart from me was, hands down, the dal tadka. The quantity was so good. It kept me filled for two days (equates to two meals). It felt almost homemade and offered me so much of nostalgia.

Pulao was also very nice with peas, mushrooms, beans and cauliflower in it. The smell, color, taste and oiliness was perfect!

Nan was also really nice, reminded me of the street dhaba food in India.

Roti, rice and pakoda couldn't make the cut for me.

Pakodas lost their crispiness, probably they would have tasted better if I ate them in the restaurant itself.

Rice lacked salt, I am used to eating salted rice, but maybe it is just me!

Roti had excess flour that it was shedding off, it wasn't too bad either, just not close to what I ate at home in India.

I would more than love to order either some of the same things or different things in future from Bollywood chilli!

Leider das schlechteste indische Essen, das ich jemals gegessen habe. Und ich dachte, bei indischem Essen kann man so gut wie nichts falsch machen, oder zumindest ein Mittelmaß erwarten. Aber hier wird Sie höchstens Imbissbuden-Essen erwarten. Wässriges Curry, mit einziger Geschmacksnote nach Zwiebelfett. Auch die Soßen zur Vorspeise wässrig und wirken nicht selbstgemacht. Die Preise der Speisen hingegen sind auf dem Niveau anderer indischer Restaurants, entsprechen hier jedoch nicht im mindesten der erbrachten Leistung!

Edit: Ich muss Sie leider damit enttäuschen, dass es sich hier um keinen Fake-Account handelt. Von einem seriösen Restaurant hätte ich aber durchaus eine andere Antwort erwartet. Das Essen, das uns geliefert wurde, war einfach sehr schlecht, das ist ein Fakt. Mit Zwiebelfett ist das Fett gemeint, in dem die Zwiebeln angebraten wurden, in diesem Fall war das leider gar nicht lecker. Und gute indische Restaurants gibt es in Braunschweig durchaus. Für alle, die lieber nicht so eine Erfahrung wie wir machen möchten, kann ich nur wärmstens ans Herz legen zum Gandhi oder zum India House zu gehen.
