Deceiving English Menu

So today we were looking for an Asian lunch and we came across this small restaurant and we were impressed by the good reviews and positive comments.

First of all, we do not speak German so we tried our best to communicate with the cook, which for the most part was friendly and did his best to communicate with us.

When we had to order he brought us menus in English and we thought that was a nice touch.... then we picked 2 main dishes, T2d and V4 which were both delicious.

Now to the nasty surprise: when we asked the bill, the woman, his wife? brought us the bill and like others confirmed, she wasn't that friendly.

But that aside, I just asked a clarification on the prices because the bill seemed too high, couple of euros actually - she took the menu, the GERMAN one and she showed me the prices saying in a bad way that she was right! (of course)

We were shocked to see that the prices on the German Menu are 20% higher than the English Menu which is what her husband gave us and where we ordered from earlier.

This is really basic stuff, if you give someone a menu with X prices, then i am expected to find those prices in the bill, straightforward no? The woman wouldn't hear it, she got really irate and demanded me to pay, i tried to make her at least acknowledge the issue but no way, she was being so stubborn and wanted to call the police.

Police would have given me reason because as a customer you are expected to pay the prices shown on the menu you ordered from. IF they told us in German that those prices were not current, how would i have understood it? Nonsense.

After all price difference was small so we ended up paying the bill however we will never come back.

TIPS for the Owner:

STRIKETHROUGH the English menu prices if you give it to some tourists and bring also the German menu on the table to show! I cannot imagine other people getting upset like we did.

OR UPDATE THE PRICES AND PRINT A NEW ENGLISH MENU! it's that simple.

No problems that way... maybe some people don't understand simple...

Warnung für Vegetarier und Veganer.

Wir haben extra gefragt ob es vegane Gerichte gibt und uns wurden einige genannt, von denen wir uns am Ende auch eins ausgesucht haben. Zuhause haben wir dann nach einigen Bissen bemerkt, dass mehrere Stückchen gebratenes Ei enthalten waren. Abgesehen davon gab es insgesamt lediglich 4 kleine Stücke Tofu.

Nicht anders war es bei der anderen Bestellung. Wir haben nachgefragt ob eine der ursprünglich nicht vegetarischen Gerichten auch mit Tofu, statt der zur Auswahl stehenden Fleischsorten gemacht werden kann. Dies wurde bejaht und wir haben es genau so bestellt. Auch in diesem Fall haben wir leider erst zu spät bemerkt, dass zusätzlich zu dem bestellten Tofu auch einige Stücke Hühnchen mit dabei waren.

Sehr traurig, wir haben uns echt auf das Essen gefreut, dass für uns jetzt...
