ERNST Kaffeeröster — Restaurant in Cologne

Coffee is very good BUT the whole atmosphere is kind of weird and odd…

It gives you the feel of an modern hype and hipster place, where at the same time screens are not allowed (?!) and they will definitely make sure to tell you so in a very „vegan“ and „in your face way“. I guess that’s why even though it looks like a cool place it usually stays empty… Pity indeed…

One advise: if you want to be hipster and hype let people sit with their laptops, otherwise you will continue to stay empty and eventually will close like the place...

I’ve been a fan of Ernst coffee for as long as I remember it, little did I know that it’s from Cologne. I’ve already had my favourites here, in the city on Rhein, but of course once I learned about the Ernst HQ, it simply needed to happen. Long story short: it was the best batch brew I‘ve had in a while. Their snacks and sweets are top-notch, and the staff always laid back. What more do you need? Been there twice. Coffee is good, but unfortunately I can’t say the same for the “customer service”. Both times I was basically the only customer they had. I ordered a pastry 🥐 pour over and single origin double espresso ( both times ). I was never asked “how was the coffee” nor I was told more informations about them. Both times my pastry was forgotten on the counter. Customer service needs an upgrade, coffee is excellent.
