China Restaurant China Haus — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

The German name gives off the impression of a generic Chinese kitchen, but the menu is built on a core of lower Yangtze river specialties. In other words, my hometown cuisine.

Our Nov 2 dinner included a rarity, crab cured in alcoholic brine. Authentic.

The Wenzhou style deep fried shrimp in batter is crispy and fluffy at the same time and very cheerful.

The boiled peanuts in shell are flavorful, but the choice for peanut is wrong. This dish is at its best with Spanish peanuts, featuring small and snug kernels. The ones on our plate were large, more like the Virginia variety, and often hollow.

The essentially Sichuan dish of beef in chili broth is a warm, fiery hit with my teenager boys.

Everything else were on the mark and satisfying.

The staff was very busy with fulfilling takeout orders, but still attentive to dine-in guests. The interior lacks taste, but it is peaceful enough that I have no complaints.

If I come back with my hometown friends, I will order up a very different selection. Looking...

The food was delicious and for sure I ll order again from China Haus but what impressed me the most was the customer care: we were heading back for a walk cause based on the app we used to order there were still 30 minutes left, the delivery was faster and we met the delivery man under our building, even if he was waiting (our/delivery app fault), he was extremely kind, furthermore to be sure that we got our food we were immediately contacted by the restaurant. Von der Küche her ist das Restaurant richtig gut und richtig chinesisch. So viele Chinesen, die regelmäßig dort essen gehen, können nicht irren!

Massive Kritik an einer Stelle habe ich am Service...und diese Kritik ist nicht servicetechnisch bedingt. Seit ein paar Jahren schon ist das Chinahaus das einzige Chinarestaurant in meinem Viertel. Darum war ich früher dort regelmäßig zu Gast. Ich hatte dort gerne zu Mittag und zu Abend gegessen. Weil ich nicht immer soviel Geld ausgeben, aber trotzdem regelmäßig dort essen gehen wollte, hatte ich es mir zur Gewohnheit gemacht, öfters abends dort mein Feierabendbier zu trinken und 1 bis 2 kleine Vorspeisen zu essen. Das war für mich perfekt. Nach einiger Zeit zeigte die Bedienung aber ihren Unmut über mein Verhalten, weil ich nach ihrer nicht genügend Umsatz pro Besuch machen würde. Man versuchte mich zum Bestellen eines Hauptganges zu nötigen. Eines nicht so schönen Tages kam die Bedienung zu mir und sagte mir direkt ins Gesicht: "Das lasse ich Ihnen jetzt noch ein einziges Mal durchgehen, aber danach bekommen Sie hier nichts mehr zu essen, wenn Sie keinen Hauptgang bestellen!" Diese Ansage empfand ich doch als riesige Ausverschämtheit. Seither gehe ich dort natürlich nicht mehr essen. Da nehme ich lieber den Weg in die City in Kauf, wo ich in meinen chinesischen Restaurants, die ich bevorzuge, immer höflich und respektvoll bedient werde; auch wenn ich nicht viel bestelle.
