Café Einstein Emden — Restaurant in Emden

A cool, funky and nostalgic atmosphere ; redolent of UK student/alternative bars of the 90s. Has as effortless mix of coffee house, bar and hangout which seems to be alien to the UK. There are a few places in bigger UK cities that ape this style, but they’re often contrived, cosmo/central and priced accordingly, whereas the Einstein is tucked away in a corner of a small German town and there’s a greater sense of a community with regulars, as well as being more relaxed on price. Smoking indoors is also allowed, which is something I miss (even as a non-smoker) in the UK, and for me adds a certain edge to proceedings. As a visiting Englishman I loved the Jever pilsner, and spent a few enjoyable afternoons there soaking up the vibe, the music, and of course the alcohol. A hidden gem I’m glad...

Wir waren zum 1. Mal dort, wirkt gemütlich, dennoch bisschen Kneipenambiente. Es gibt kaum Tische, wo man sich gegenüber sitzen kann, meist Couch oder Bar-Hocker. Es gibt wohl auch einen Raucherbereich, der jedoch offen ist und zur Zeit stillgelegt ist. Im Café gibt es einen Kamin, was wirklich außergewöhnlich ist. Barista war wirklich sympathisch und freundlich, aufmerksam und flink. Toiletten sind sauber und modern, es gibt einen Kicker und Flipper. Lokal wirkt etwas rustikal, nackt und dennoch einladend. Kartenzahlung nicht möglich, zumindest habe ich keine wahrgenommen. Kuchen sahen ebenfalls einladend aus. Kaffee war wirklich schön verziert, so schön habe ich bisher noch keinen Milchschaum erlebt. Preise sind gut! 3,10€ für einen großen Cappuccino, leider gibt es dort nur die „Normalen“ Kaffeeangebote, wenig Variation. Es wird Hafermilch (mit Aufpreis) angeboten.
