Roll&Dine Bistro — Restaurant in Essen

Since we hadn't made a reservation, we were told that the table would only be available for an hour and 20 minutes. Once we were seated, we were given the normal prices (4€ per hour) and they assured that we would receive a discount on the final bill since we were being forced to leave. When we payed, we were charged the standard rate (which included a fixed price for an unlimited number of hours) even though we had been forced to leave as previously stated. When I asked for an explanation about the discount, the owner deflected by saying that the waiter had misunderstood and that in order to receive the discount, we would also have to eat and spend a minimum of 15 euros (even though we had previously made sure that this was not the case, given the need to free up the table). Not wanting to argue, we left, paying €10 each for staying at a table for 1 hour and 20 minutes and drinking 2 teas between the 3 of us. Absolutely not recommended, dishonest, unpleasant owner with no desire to find a solution for customers (because, in any case, when we checked the table reservation times, one was empty for the next two hours, and when asked for an explanation, he simply ignored...

Das Roll&Dine ist eine fantastische Bereicherung für Essen Holsterhausen an der Grenze zu Frohnhausen!

In diesem Brettspiel-Café gibt es nicht nur eine sorgfältig kuratierte Auswahl von Spielen, die man entweder allein, zu zweit oder in unterschiedlich großen Gruppen ausprobieren kann, sondern auch immer wieder Events, die einzelne Spiele, Verlage oder Themen fokussieren. An Halloween 2024 konnte man bspw. erstmals (und inzwischen regelmäßig) Blood on the Clocktower spielen.

Die (zwei-)wöchentlich, saisonal abgestimmte Speisekarte ändert sich oft, doch das Essen ist stets ausgezeichnet! Ob Panini mit selbst gebackenem Brot, veganer Döner, Risotto, Quiche, Pasta, Zimtschnecken, Kuchen, Torten und sogar Sorbet - ich hab bisher noch kein Gericht hier gegessen, was mir nicht geschmeckt hat.

Und ich bin oft hier :D manchmal nur für einen Kaffee oder einen Plausch, manchmal ausgehungert vom Training, gelegentlich auch um hier zu spielen. Die Community, also die Stammkundschaft und die Besitzer, sind wohl der größte Grund für mich, immer wieder vorbeizukommen. Hier ist es herzlich, heimelig und jede:r ist...

Really cute board game bistro with a very good selection of games - especially considering that they have been open for less than a year as of time of writing. Clearly a lot of passion went into making this place happen. Although the food limit is limited, it changes regularly and gives the place a homely vibe. Really cute, I'm glad...
