Roter Hof — Restaurant in Flensburg

I visited Roter Hof with my husband and two friends on their recommendation of the excellent food and service. I was definitely not disappointed. This restaurant is a hidden gem. The staff are super friendly and the food is delicious. I recommend getting a reservation, if you go for dinner. We went for lunch and it is the same menu as dinner. I ordered a local Dunkel beer and the currywurst sausage plate with spicy fruit sauce and a side salad. It was probably the best currywurst I have ever tasted. Even the side salad was carefully assembled with a nice dressing. My husband ordered the breaded and stuffed chicken with spinach and it was also very good. We arrived at 13:00 Today anticipating our meal. We have come here before on day trips to Flensberg and had excellent experiences. Today was the worst experience . We waited for half an hour and there was no meal served so we asked , they said it would be five minutes and then we got up at 14:30 and asked again and no meal was served. We looked around and there was many restaurant guests waiting for food and we only saw one table being served the whole time we were there. At least update your costumes if there are any issues. I was with my two elderly parents who were excited and patiently waiting but patience wears thin after waiting for one hour and a half to be told that the food is still not being cooked yet. I went there for a lunch on a Saturday, the 7th of October 2017, based on a recommendation from the hotel receptionist, where I was staying. I am glad I went there. Positives: 1- The design and the atmosphere were lovely and typical what I would want to see in Germany. It was cosy too. 2- The food was delicious. You can get a McDonald's etc wherever you go and and wherever you travel, but they are pretty much the same, but this burger had a homemade twist on it. 3- The staff were friendly and speak English. 4- They have a good menu and the prices were reasonable.
