St. Marien Kirche — Attraction in Flensburg

This church is the biggest church in the centre of Flensburg. A letter from the danish bishop Tycho von Aarhus has mentioned the church in the year 1284 for the first time . He stated in this letter that the inhabitants had started to build the church in a gothic style. In the following centuries 3 new "rooms" where added to the exsiting church. Been there for Christmas Concert of Bach Choir - very good choir and director, splendid soloists, a high level of professionalism and artistry. My seat was a hardbacked chair which was a bit tough for 90 minutes. Seats on the benches were certainly better. The church's inside is fabulous, the atmosphere...

Ich besuchte vor vielen Jahren Flensburg und da die Pforte geoeffnet war ging ich in die Kirche, in der ich 1945 [Pastor Hassel???]konfirmiert wurde. Ich hatte das grosse Glueck, den Organist zu hoeren, gerade eine Bach Fuge spielte. Ich weiss nicht, ob die alten [Eiche?] Baenke noch existieren, aber die Fuge war so powerful, sodass die Vibrationen die alten Baenke in Bewegung setzte und durch mich wanderten. Einfach toll! Und dann noch das schoene Innere, das aus der katholischen Zeit stammte....
