栗园烤吧 Grillhaus Kastanien — Restaurant in Frankfurt

FOOD & DRINKS Grilling your own meat on a self rotating grill is the highlight at this Chinese restaurant. The menu items throughout are pretty much authentic. We tried a mix of skewers as well as some house specialties. The sweet & sour pork ribs were pretty good but had way too much breading. Some pieces don’t even have meat in them. The lamb cutlets were a bit too tough and not of the best quality. Same goes for most of the skewers which all basically had the same seasoning. Food wasn’t really bad but the quality of the meat and the tenderness could be improved. I recommend the chicken wings and maybe some seafood. Maybe not the scallops. Go for more basic stuff.

SERVICE The staff was nice but at times also very chaotic. Although we might have added our part to the confusion, I think it could have been handled better.

ATMOSPHERE I think this has been an old style German restaurant & pub before. They did the best they could without investing too much in a complete overhaul of the place.

RATING If you like meat, be careful with your selection and reduce your expectations on the house specialities. Otherwise it's pretty decent but the reason for you to come here is probably the self rotating grill. It’s worth...

🔴The waitress was very, very, very rude 😡, I wrote my order on a small piece of paper that was given to me, the waitress came forward and wrote off the order provocatively because the restaurant doesn't have enough grills on the table ‼️ ‼️ ‼️

🔴 Her German was so bad and she don't speak English beside she doesn't want to listen to what I'm saying.

🔴 I tried to find someone to inquire about why I didn't get a grill, but I couldn't find anyone who could help me, and the same waitress started clapping and calling me rudely like i'm working there .😡😡

🔴 She started telling me 3 beers, and I tell her no, I didn't order 3 beers , and she comes back and says 3 beers, I didn't order beer ‼️‼️‼️⁉️⁉️.

🔴 I was so angry and i had to leave the restaurant and I never want to go back...

Das Essen war sehr lecker (wie auch bei unserem ersten Besuch vor zwei Wochen, wo ich noch 5 Sterne gegeben hätte), jedoch war die Bedienung ungeduldig, unfreundlich und sichtlich genervt von uns und ihrem Job. Vor zwei Wochen war es noch die freundliche Mimi die uns bedient hatte, nun scheint sie durch jemand anderen ersetzt worden zu sein. Die ältere Dame beherrscht weder die deutsche Sprache, noch bemüht sie sich freundlich zu sein. Beim Bestellen waren wir ihr wohl zu langsam (Sie nahm unseren Bestellzettel mit, obwohl wir noch nicht fertig waren und meckert währenddessen, dass das Bestellte nicht reichen würde), beim Grillen haben wir die Spieße wohl zu lang drauf gelassen, sodass nicht direkt Platz vorhanden war, für die neu gebrachten Sachen und auch sonst hat ihr nichts gepasst, was wir taten. Wahrscheinlich haben wir ihr auch zu langsam gegessen, denn sie hat unserem Tisch keinerlei Beachtung geschenkt. Zum nachbestellen sind wir deshalb mehrmals an die Theke gegangen. Abgeräumt, zumindest teilweise, wurde erst eine dreiviertel Stunde nachdem wir fertig gegessen hatten. Registriert wurde dies zwar, bei der Bestellung neuer Getränke, aber es wurde gekonnt ignoriert. Auf die Bitte getrennt bezahlen zu wollen wurde mit einem Augen rollen reagiert. Wie wir uns das denn vorstellen würden mit den vielen einzelnen Spießen. Dem herablassenden Service entsprechend wollte meine Freundin nur wenig Trinkgeld geben. Dieses wurde mit den Worten "so wenig nehme ich nicht, gebe ich zurück" abgelehnt. Aufrunden reicht der Dame also nicht, egal wie schlecht der Service war. So viel Dreistigkeit hatte ich bisher noch nie erlebt und kann ich dementsprechend auch nicht empfehlen. Schade eigentlich, das Essen schmeckt nämlich sehr gut und auch die sich selbst drehenden Spieße sind mal...
