Balkan Grill — Restaurant in Frankfurt

(on 10 May 2025) We called many times during the day to make a reservation, but nobody picked up the phone. Still we wanted to give it a chance and arrived by the restaurant around 6pm. As a party of 4 adults and 2 kids, we were told that we would have to wait for ~40mins for a table. Strange thing though is that of the 8 tables outside, only 2-3 we're occupied, and there was plenty of seating available inside.

So we were left standing in the middle of the sitting area with no service. None of the waiters even bothered to acknowledge our presence. After being ignored, we asked one more time if we would be seated any time soon. All the waiter did was give us a thumbs up. No idea what that was supposed to mean.

After waiting 5 more minutes, we just left.

I have never experienced something remotely comparable at any restaurant before. The waiters just seemed to not care about anyone or anything, chatting inside and watching TV.

response to the owner's response: sorry, but looking at the photos, I can confirm that the review if for your restaurant. I might have miscounted the number of tables (6 vs. 8), but only 2 or 3 of them were occupied for the entire time we spent waiting (~45 mins). We were standing right by the entrance to the main restaurant door, the 2 kids in the party were sitting at the table closest to your restaurant door. So, I find it unbelievable that your staff failed...

I had reserved one month ahead of my birthday. Drove by the day of the reservation just to make sure. The same night we walked into the restaurant, 4 adults and 2 children and after hunting down the waitress, I was told our table had been given to another group! Spoke to the "Cheffin", one extremely bitchy older woman who said: "I gave the table to those guys", a table of six for three --probably her Serbo-Croatian friends. Instead of asking her friends if they could move, she just told us: "Ich habe kein Zeit!"

This was by far, the most unfriendly, unprofessional and rude service I have ever had! Completely ruined what could've been a real nice birthday night and perhaps a great review!

It's obvious, this place does not take reservations!...

Great Food, Huge Portions – Bring Your Appetite!

We absolutely loved the food here—seriously, everything was delicious! We ordered the platter for 35 euros, and since there were six of us, we figured it would be just right. But the waiter warned us it wouldn’t be enough and strongly encouraged us to order something else too.

Well… turns out we should’ve trusted our eyes (and our stomachs). That platter was massive! We barely made a dent in the second dish—we couldn’t even start on it! So word of advice: the portions here are no joke. Check the size before you order, unless you’re feeding a very hungry group of teenagers.

Still, 10/10 for flavor and experience. Just maybe skip that second entrée unless you’re prepared for...
