Kathi's Steakhaus — Restaurant in Freising

I always look to see what kind of restaurants are in the area that I will be traveling to, and I make sure to read all the reviews from the locals. I had found Kathi’s Steakhouse before I even had my actual room booked where I would be staying, and it was on my list of places that I absolutely wanted to check out while I would be in Freising for 2 weeks. I am happy that I did. When I got to Freising, I found out that it was only about a 10min walk from my apartment. Everything about Kathi’s was on point. Everything from the service to the atmosphere and most definitely the food. I started with the Marinated Lamb Chops with Mint Yogurt Sauce and had the Argentinian Black Angus Ribeye with Potato Gratin as my main and paired it with a bottle of Argentina Malbec. The complementary bread they gave me was really fresh and served with what I would describe as an Herb Butter. I‘m a strict vegetarian since many years now and I dared to visit this steak house. To be honest, they don’t offer a lush variety of veggie food and I knew this in advance. There were only two or three dishes on their main menu to choose from, but that‘s totally ok for me! I ordered a vegetarian burger with regular fries and a farmers salad. The burger with its ingredients was very delicious! It contained fresh mozzarella, olives, rocket salad and dried tomatoes with some tastey other stuff! The fries were really well seasoned and an excellent supplement to the burger! The salad was good, but I could imagine, that the experience would be even better with some small green side salad or so. We were able to seat ourselves outside on a beautiful fall day. A server quickly greeted us and was wonderful with recommendations although we only speak English. I ordered a beef filet and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The potato wedges were hot, crisp and a nice side. We shared a dessert plate that included multiple items. All very tasty. I debated removing one star only due to the price point. Dinner was over $100 and we shared the beef filet. That’s certainly the most we have paid for a dinner by far while touring Germany.
