we stayed one night to combine with a visit to the nearby Veltins Arena. ||When we arrived we were welcomed by the host and booked in very efficient. The room was on the first floor (no lift) and was well equipped and a good size. The bathroom was spotlessly clean.||When we returned to the hotel quite late in the evening there was not much still open in the town but we could have a drink from the mini bar which was quite reasonably priced - only what you would pay in a bar or from a petrol station. that is a big difference from staying with a chain hotel in a big city where the minibar is a no-go zone!||The hotel boasts that mattresses are extra comfortable. I can't say for sure because I could have slept on a washing line, but I do know I slept very well. The view from the room was a car-park, a main road and a city park. OK, not the Eiffel Tower or the Aurora Borealis but there was no noise disturbance as the room double glazing works well.||Breakfast is a full buffet: cheese, eggs, meat coffee tea etc and is served until 10 am which was quite welcome. It was all very tasty and nicely presented.||The hotel held our bags for us while we had a look round the town and lake.||I think the hotel only has 8 or so rooms so you are not just a number. The team there are very welcoming and take a well justified pride in their hotel.||I...

Read moreI stayed here in May 2016 for the first time and will definitely return as its the best of the 3 hotels that I've stayed in in Haltern am See.||||The rooms are modern, bright, well furnished and have very comfortable beds, though no tea making facilities, which is something I miss in provincial German hotels. The breakfast is very good with a good selection of cereals, fruits and a few hot options. The hotel also has good free wifi.||||The restaurant for evening dining is also very good - we were very happy with our options. Car parking is where you need to be careful as the car park opposite gets very busy, but there are a few on-street options after 6pm.||||Noise from the church bells of Haltern is still present, but not to an annoying level. Staff are very friendly and helpful, though English-speakers a bit limited. I'd recommend the hotel for...
