Rio Grande — Restaurant in Hamburg

After visiting the Zoo I was looking for a Döner and Google came up with this place. Not what I had in mind, but a pleasant surprise :-) We came without reservation on an early saturday evening with 8 persons. Only thing they had for 8 persons were some high seats. I asked if they had two 4 person tables and they had. But when we took off our coats at the two tables, the waiter came to us that he had a 8 person place or us. Food was very good although I could do without the sauce on the spare ribs. Just marinated is fine. Weizen was good (Paulaner wäre besser :-) ) and the girls even got a new Afpelstrudel, because, let's be honest chocolate sauce on...

The best steak of my life, even if undercooked, the meat was from Argentina and I couldn't have enjoyed the meal much more, I did go back to see if it was a fluke and I think the chef needs some practice to get consistency of searing and cooking to order. I ordered medium rare on both occasions and in my opinion was served rare the first time and blue the second. But don't let that hold you back, the price is really low for the quality of meat being served. You can fix it by asking for a medium I guess, almost 5 stars for me but there is some work...

Ganz spontan haben wir abends aus Hamburg kommend das erste Mal im „Rio Grande“ halt gemacht. Da ich durch meine berufliche Zeit den wunderschönen Stadtteil Lokstedt und das an gleicher Stelle frühere „Antikes“ kannte, wusste ich, das es hervorragende Parkmöglichkeiten hinter dem Restaurant gibt. Wer aber mit Bus und Bahn kommt, kann vor Ort mit der Metro Bus Linie 5 bis Niendorf oder Burgwedel und dann mit der U-Bahn oder der AKN weiter fahren. Das Steakhaus ist ÜBERRAGEND. Die Qualität des Essens ist sehr gut. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist spitze. Die sonnendurchflutete Terrasse ist einfach nur sehr sehr schön und bietet genug Möglichkeiten Dank schöner Überdachungen , auch bei schlechterem Wetter oder spontanen Regen draußen zu verweilen. Das Personal ist super lieb, sehr aufmerksam und auch auf Allergien wie Knoblauchunverträglichkeit wird absolut toll Rücksicht genommen. Wir waren im Juli dort, aber innen ist es genauso einladend wie auf der Terrasse. Super schön möbliert und sehr sehr sauber, sowie alles ebenerdig erreichbar und keine Treppen. Die Speisekarte ist sehr umfangreich, die Qualität wie erwähnt super, es gibt zusätzlich eine Saisonkarte und auch eine Cocktail Karte.
