Strandperle — Restaurant in Hamburg

Strandperle - beach pearl is a bar/ bistro at the sand beach at the river Elbe in Hamburg.

We took public transport ferry 62 from Landungsbruecken to Övelgönne and walked the last bit. The view from the beach is towards the container port and you can see big conatiner ships arriving/ leaving and conainers bring moved and smaller boats going along thhe river maze. The beach is popular with families of all ages and four-legged friends and young people.

The bar was busy but we were able to find a table in the shade. ...later other people joined us on our large table.

We ordered a Moscow Mule (nearly 10 € but they loaded it with vodka!!) and a lovely pink looking wildberry (alcoholic) drink. Then we got a Radler, a cappuchino and a slice of home made cherry crumble cake which was fresh n tasty. The cappuchino tasted very good so we ordered a second at the kiosk for take away.

Friendly staff, some only bring the drinks/ food, others only clear the table and then yet some take your order and payment.

I would recommend it to relax at a place that offers beach flair not far from...

Went around 9:30pm on a Friday night and found a table immediately. Tried their Matjesbrotchen (fish sandwich), which is so unique and delicious. The salted herring was out of this world tender and flavourful. The sauce was sweet and crunchy from the onions and diced apples. The bun was hearty and helped balance the saltiness from the fish. What a delightful expensive. So satisfying. Definitely worth trying when you’re in Hamburg cause there’s nothing else like it anywhere.

The pommes (fries) were potato heaven. It’s the best of both worlds between chips and fries. Outside is nice and crispy while still being fluffy. Tried the truffle mayo and it is not worth the €1.50.

Round it off with an astra bier and you’ve got yourself the perfect meal. Fishy carb heaven. Total came to €14.50. So much food for such an affordable price! And you get an amazing view of the colourful port.

Lovely atmosphere, directly on the beach. Prices are what you expect (or even more...) for one of the only dining options on the beach (20€ for a burger with fries). Service friendly. Relatively quick. Food delivery was surprisingly fast. Unfortunately- request for a medium burger (the request was accepted as if that is the standard) resulted in a nearly well done burger. Bun to burger ratio was sad. A request for sauce Substitution was denied due to some pre mix excuse, even though the (non desired) sauce was just poured on top. As an alternative, the desired sauce would be served on the side, which it wasn't (although upon request, it was delivered). A salad was served along side on the plate, but it felt like just decoration and unnecessary. Fries were standard premade shoestring with relatively little salt or seasoning.
