ZEBIB - Hanau — Restaurant in Hanau

I’m not an expert on African food, so I can’t speak to authenticity — but I can say with confidence that the food here is absolutely delicious. The portions are very generous, the restaurant itself is beautifully designed, and the staff is warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind.

I happened to arrive at an odd time when they were in the middle of an Ostafrikanische Kaffeezeremonie (East African coffee ceremony). The owner graciously invited me to join them in the back to try the coffee. Since I joined late and only got to taste the final round rather than the full experience, they didn’t even charge me for it — an incredible gesture of hospitality.

And the coffee? Outstanding. Easily the best I’ve had anywhere in Hanau — and I’d go so far as to say it was specialty-level quality.

For food, I ordered the “Ein Mix aus Allem” platter, which lets you sample a bit of everything. It was beautifully presented, absolutely huge, and every single dish tasted wonderful. The owner even came over to explain how to eat it properly with injera and, despite already giving me plenty, insisted on bringing me an extra serving of injera just to make sure I had enough.

The overall experience was perfect — fantastic food, amazing hospitality, and genuinely lovely people. The restaurant has only been open a short time, so there aren’t many reviews yet, but the high ratings are very well deserved.

Ein Geschmackserlebnis wie im Himmel! Absolut empfehlenswert! Ich hatte das unglaubliche Vergnügen, kürzlich Zebib, zu besuchen, und ich bin einfach hin und weg! Schon beim Betreten des Restaurants wurde ich von einer warmen und einladenden Atmosphäre empfangen, die sofort das Gefühl gab, zu Hause zu sein. Das Personal war unglaublich freundlich, aufmerksam und hat uns mit ihrer herzlichen Gastfreundschaft wirklich begeistert. Aber kommen wir zum Essen – oh mein Gott, das Essen! Jedes Gericht war ein wahres Fest für die Sinne. Wir haben uns für eine Auswahl an Gerichten entschieden, um möglichst viel probieren zu können, und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Injera, diese einzigartige und köstliche Fladenbrot, war perfekt zubereitet und diente als ideale Grundlage für die aromatischen Saucen. Die Gewürze waren einfach himmlisch – perfekt ausbalanciert, geschmackvoll und authentisch, ohne dabei zu scharf zu sein. Man schmeckt die Liebe und Sorgfalt, die in jedes Gericht gesteckt wird. Es war nicht nur ein Essen, sondern ein echtes kulturelles Erlebnis. Die Möglichkeit, gemeinsam von einer großen Platte zu essen, fördert ein wunderbares Gemeinschaftsgefühl und macht den Besuch zu etwas ganz Besonderem. Wer authentische, unglaublich leckere eritreische Küche in einer herzlichen und einladenden Umgebung genießen möchte, ist hier goldrichtig!
