Tried to call this place but went straight to voicemail, so we chanced it by going there. They did have a table for two. We had our doubt because the place looked empty, but turned out we had to take a flight of stairs to reach the bistro, which has modern design with some traditional elements. The food was tasty, we ordered a vegetarian borscht and 2 times the beetroot dumplings with cream cheese and salmon, we both had a beer with the meal. So far so good. I was slightly disappointed that they did not serve draught beer, despite the bar having a beer tap. The beetroot soup was tasty and filling; but I was more disappointed with the dumplings. They were tasty but definitely lacking quantity wise. Also, it was served with only a few slivers of salmon. One could always order another main dish, but looking at it price wise, that would make this place rather expensive. My tip for the owner would be either: larger portions (in our case also more salmon), or lowering the price to be more in line with the dish, quantity wise.
Reaction Cafe Eifelgarden: Thank you for your review! I would like to concentrate on the fact that these are handmade dumplings, which in other restaurants cost from 18 euros and are filled only with riccota cheese. We are not a charity and our prices and portions are calculated on an all-inclusive basis!
Madam, I would never accuse you of being a charity. You run a business in a market economy, that is well understood. I am a customer, people come to this area to hike. These are also your potential customers. I, as customer, was definitely not full after a starter and a main. I come to Germany every year for longer than I can remember. Portions are large here, this is the market you are competing in. Finally I am a bit saddened that you seem to view my review as an attack. Feedback is a gift that I gave to you for free. Doesn't that sound...
Read moreA suprising gem in a quiet street! We'll definitely be back if in the neighbourhood.
Pros: small menu, but with excellent food, incl. handmade dumplings, all fresh & piping hot, influenced by the traditional Ukrainian kitchen. hidden garden/terrace at the back of the building, with a green wall, protected from the street noise & wind. very friendly lady waiter, knowing the menu inside out. cosy music in the background. Cons: it may get busy in the evening, especially in case the weather does not allow to sit in the...
Read moreHidden gem 💎 in Heimbach! After long and cold autumn walk, this small cafe is a great surprise. Warm Ukrainian food (homemade dumplings filled with meat, sauerkraut, mushrooms), Borstsch soup, and flammkuchen. Nice cakes (we tried cheese cake and triple chocolate) and very good coffee (unlike weak filter coffee common in Germany). As bonus: super clean place and friendly owner. What are you...
