I have mixed feelings about Kaizen. I'm not used to having a one-stop-shop-for-all-Asian food, but that's my problem. So when I look at the 41 page menu (I counted), it is quite overwhelming.
We spoke to the owner, who recommended the Vietnamese dishes, therefore I had to go with the Pork Bún (253), which was absolutely delicious. The grilled pork, the tangy sauce, the fresh herbs, and noodles work perfectly together. My wife ordered the chicken Bún (252) and it was absolutely terrible. The problem is that they used a sauteed chicken and soggy veggies with this bland brown sauce from one of the "Chinese" dishes and it just did not work, at all. Why can't they just grill the chicken like they did the pork? Then it would be perfect!
Same happened with the Chicken Phở (256), the Vietnamese dish was delicious. Another time we ordered the Chicken Ramen (264) and it was the exact same dish as the Phở, the only difference was the actual noodles. Yes it was Ramen noodles, but it was not what you expect from a Ramen Noodle Dish. Very disappointed.
I haven't had their Sushi, so I can't comment on it. I'm not a fan of ordering raw fish in a location away from the ocean, but that's just my own personal preference.
Hopefully after COVID, the owners re-think this extreme menu and pick only a few items from each region and make them fresh and delicious and not mix and match dishes just to have a ridiculous menu. They have the potential for being a fantastic place if they would have a smaller menu that was given the same love as they give 253 and 256.
Coming from Los Angeles, I will keep going here for 253 and 256 because these Vietnamese dishes are honestly quite good and remind me of home. Everything else that I've had there is not worth having on the menu, in my...
Read moreDon’t go there. The service And the food are not good. I've heard other people complaining about this restaurant, but I decided to give it a chance. I went on a weekday, not very busy, I arrived, sat down and waited more than 20 minutes just to receive the menu and order the drinks. After some waiting, we ordered a sushi combo and a salmon hot holls combo. More than 30 minutos after we receive the food. The sushi was ok, except for the taste of frozen fish, but the Salmon from the Salmon hot holl was salmon skin .... unbelievable. There was no piece of salmon in...
Read moreService is very kind and welcoming, the atmosphere is pleasant, we got a table right at the running sushi belt and were able to start right off. To be very fair and transparent: do not expect high quality sushi./ food at all. This whole thing is fun to look at and you can try lots of different things, different kinds of curry, sushi, starters etc but keep in mind it will not be of quality. The sushi tastes bland, the fried stuff all tasted like someone forgot to change the frying oil, and some duck cuts looked like the bird had scoliosis. Still tasted OK, not the...
