Pension & Gaststube Panorama — Restaurant in Königstein/Sächs. Schw.

We came here for two nights to visit the Bastei, having seen the Bastei from the train journey from Berlin to Prague previously and made a mental note to come back to the area in the future.||||This is a small - medium sized guest house who know their target audience well. The rooms are almost all facing towards the Elbe sandstone mountains, and although simply furnished, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom clearly newly fitted, with a decent, powerful shower. As I say; they know their clientele, they know hikers are going to need decent showers. The room also had a seating area with big picture windows, so even if the weather was questionable, you would still be able to sit and enjoy the view.||||The breakfast was decent too. You get your own flask of filter coffee, and there is a decent sized continental breakfast spread.||||The restaurant has a terrace with the same wonderful view, and the selection is good. I tried the pork knuckle and the wild boar goulash with cranberries and potato dumplings. The knuckle was great, but the goulash was fantastic.||||The clientele here were predominantly German, but the staff do speak moderate English. The guesthouse is clearly aimed at hikers (with racks for walking boots in the hallways outside rooms), and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.||||I would definitely stay at this guesthouse again. Schöne Aussicht auf den Ort Rathen und den Taleingang zur Felsenbühne.

Eine ca. 100m lange Steilrampe mit deutlich mehr als 6% Steigung führt zum Pensions-Restaurant hinauf. Daher nicht barrierefrei. Da wir nicht übernachtet haben, wird nicht die Pension und nur das Restaurant rezensiert.

Service sehr burschikos, trotz wenig Betrieb eine nicht sehr gastfreundliche Art gegenüber den Kunden. Freundlichkeit kostet nix! Scheinbar ist man hier auf die Kunden nicht angewiesen und der Umsatz fällt vom Himmel.

Essen war OK, aber nicht herausragend. Vorspeise Soljanka (5,90 €) war ok, Hauptgericht hatten wir Sauerbraten mit Klößen u. Rotkohl (ca. 19,90 €) sowie lt. Speisekarte "knusprige" Schweinehaxe mit Sauerkraut u. ! 2 ! Kartoffeln (ca. 17,90 €). Der Sauerbraten war gut. Das Eisbein war zu 50% außen knusprig, der Rest war sehr schlabberig. Hier hat der Koch nichts getestet, bevor das Essen raus ging. Fleisch war sehr zart. Sauce sehr dünn. Insgesamt kein höheres Geschmackserlebnis. Espresso (ca. 2,90€) und Espresso-Eis mit Espresso (ca. 4,90€) war gut, kam jedoch zeitlich getrennt voneinander. Ungelernter Service oder vom Chef schlecht eingewiesen. Preislich alles im Rahmen, die Gesamtqualität liegt jedoch unter dem Preisniveau und passt daher insgesamt nicht zusammen.

Das naturtrübe Bier aus der Pirnaer Hausbrauerei war sehr lecker. Die Weinauswahl war auch ok. WC war sauber.

Tisch am besten vorbestellen. Ab 20 Uhr hat die Küche Feierabend.

Fazit: Essen durchschnittlich. Servicefreundlichkeit mangelhaft, die man auch nicht mehr mit sächsischem Charme...

Food was delicious. Big portions. Service is very nice and speaks English. They open at noon and have a lot of customers. You need a reservation to eat at this time. We did not have a reservation and was told to come back around 2:30 PM. The place was empty then. There is only one thing that was upsetting - wasps. They arrived a minute we received our meals and were flying around like crazy and getting into food and drinks. A few of them, actually got in a beer and sauce - we had to rescue them. There is a nest somewhere nearby. If you are allergic I think it would be better...
