The service and the food here is great! They were very accommodating and polite, and really made me feel welcome. I ordered Krios Mezes für Zwei as a main dish and couldn't finish it all. It was really good, the star of the dish was the eggplant dip, it was amazing! The kalamari salad and the mixed salad were very very good as well and very fresh. The feta dip could have been spicier and the Tzatziki could have had more garlic, but as this is Germany, they had to adjust to the local market. The only thing I didn't like were the beans because they tasted like from a can, the sauce was too sweet and not tomatoey as it should be. This is hands down one of the best Greek restaurants and probably just restaurants in Karlsruhe. The service is friendly, funny (in a very good way) and warm. The food is delicious and depending on the plate, almost elegant. If you have kids, this place is perfect for them. The staff don't seem bothered by little humans running around and tend to interact with them. It is a bit more expensive than your average restaurant in the city but it is a well worth premium to pay. I have been going for years and plan to keep going...

Was ist nur mit unserem liebsten griechischem Restaurant Sokrates passiert? Letztens waren wir mal wieder seit Längerem dort und haben uns riesig auf ein leckeres Essen gefreut. Da war die Enttäuschung umso größer. Als Erstes muss ich erwähnen, dass das Service-Team wie immer alles super macht. Alle sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Dafür auch die 3 Sterne. Als wir kamen, an einem Freitag-Abend, wo eigentlich nie ein Platz frei war, waren plötzlich viele Plätze frei. Das hat uns schon gewundert. Wo sind die leckeren Beilagen wie Zitronenkartoffel oder das gegrillte Gemüse hin? Bis jetzt war ein Besuch eine kulinarische Bereicherung, weil dieses Essen eben immer anders und leckerer war als bei anderen Griechen. Nun ist es leider genau gleich. Als Beilage Pommes oder Reis. Eine Speisekarte, die sehr reduziert und beliebig ist. Eben schon so kleine Details wie die Speisekarte macht viel aus. War die vorige klassische Speisekarte ein Genuss zum Anschauen, mit den kleinen schönen Sprüchen drin, mit leckeren Speisen, wo man nicht wusste was man als Erstes essen soll, ist sie jetzt eine langweilige großformatige eingeschweißte Allerweltskarte. Nicht nur die Mengen des Essens, auch die Qualität des Essens hat nachgelassen. Das Fleisch war nicht mehr so lecker wie früher. Den Salat musste man auf dem Teller suchen. Es ist kein Vergleich zu früher. Wir waren sehr enttäuscht. Und werden leider nicht mehr vorbeikommen. Schade, wir haben all die Jahre wirklich sehr schöne Abende dort verbracht.
