Oh. God. This is hand's down, the worst restaurant, fastfood or otherwise, that I've eaten at (and I've been to some pretty sketchy places in rural USA).
Service is poor, there were 4-5 employees (1 cook, 2 on the register, 1 collecting and handing out food, and 1 janitor, though you wouldn't know it) who clearly don't give a damn. And I don't blame them, because one of the employees on the register, who seemed to also be the manager, did not give a damn either.
You walk in and from the bus loop and are assaulted on your left and right by dirty and very occasionally sticky floors, filthy tables still laden with food bits and wrappers from previous guests, and then line up. If you're unlucky, you'll be cut off by other desperately hungry guests lining up from the restaurant's mall entrance, and since there's often only one register open, and the staff don't care, you'll have to clear up with the other guests who got there first.
The LCD display will tell you your order is being made, and which one is being served up... but it never updates. Your order, along with twelve others that have already been handed out to the guests who've ordered them, will be there for eternity until someone pushes a button, at some point. Why have it if you aren't going to use it? This leads to confusion, as other reviewers have mentioned.
So, you've ordered (they have English-speaking staff, which I will praise, hence the two stars I gave for service) and found a halfway decent table, magicked some chairs (because there are too few of those for some reason) out of thin air, and left one of your party to stand near the counter so your food doesn't get chucked back with the rest of the chicken when it doesn't get picked up (yeah, I witnessed that too, during my short visit). Eventually your food will come.
And you better inspect it thoroughly. My partner has an iron stomach and had no problems. I ordered a veggie wrap, despite the fact that I usually refuse to eat anywhere if they can't manage to take care of basic hygiene. I unwrapped it and found a weird blue-teal mark melted into it. It may have been plastic, maybe it was a lost acrylic nail, I don't know. So I ripped open the wrap. Can't trust the outside, can't trust the inside. My veggie wrap was more sauce than anything else (probably around 40g of it was this weird sour white sauce - probably expired? I don't know). One of the three tomato slices had a weird bite-shape taken out of it. What a mess.
Avoid this place. Go to literally any other restaurant, fast food, diner, Döner joint, pop-up stand, literally anything is better than this joke of an...
Read moreWe were there on the 24th of this month. We were traveling from Oslo to Kiel by boat. And since KFC doesn't exist in Norway, we really wanted to eat KFC (I've been a big KFC fan for years). What disappointed me that day wasn't the food. The food was very good, as always. What was most worrying was the demand for work and how few workers there were. There were more than 40 tickets waiting. This was truly deplorable. The stress those workers must endure is third-world. Those workers deserve everything. I couldn't believe this was happening in Germany. I understood why there's no KFC in Norway... because those working conditions don't exist in Norway! Workers are people too and should have an adequate work environment so they can perform their duties efficiently.
I don't know if the stressful working conditions of those KFC Kiel workers are a daily occurrence... I'd like to think not. Cheers to those workers who give their all. P.S.: I'm not just talking... I've been a cook for 11 years and I understand the working conditions better than anyone.
KFC Kiel, please praise your workers as well; they are the pillars of...
Read moreMy son has the worst experience in this place. We were on the boat from norway to kiel last week and since i cannot go out of the boat i asked them to buy kfc for me. Since i didnt know what to order i asked him to take a photo of the menu and send it to me. While he is taking photo a woman working in the cashier furiously came to him and shouted at him to delete the photo because it is apparently not allowed. She refuses to leave until she saw that he deleted the photo. And said, “You are not in Norway now you cannot do that here” Confused as they were, since when is it not allowed to take photos of the menu??? And even if it is not allowed that we didn’t knew, she could have approached him better than shouting and traumatizing him in front of a lot people. He has been traumatized by this experience and refused to use his phone camera for a while after that inccident. They didn’t even deserve a 1 star from us....
