Tadsch Mahal — Restaurant in Kiel

We heard of this restaurant from our friends and wanted to give a try. Me and my wife enjoy indian food as we tried it in many other cities. First of all we didn't make a reservation and decided to pass by and they welcomed us and we were lucky to have a place. The service was friendly, fast and they had always a smile. We've ordered a lentile soup with excotic herbs and the mix grill plate for two. I liked the soup a lot. The mix grill came sizzling and hot (the fajita style) and smartly served on an extremely hot serving metal dish to keep it hot. It was also served with bread, adequate amount of rice, tomato sauce and salad (btw the rice and the bread were refillable). The portion was very good. The chicken and the lamb meat were fresh cooked, very good marinated and has a strong taste with the Tandoori and curry spices. BEWARE!!! Only come if you are prepared to spend a lot on subpar food. We came at 12:00. The door was not open and we waited with a German couple. The door was opened by kitchen staff about 10 minutes later. No servers were there, and the German couple left after 5 minutes of waiting in the restaurant. (The right decision!) We waited another 10 minutes in the restaurant for the only server to arrive late to work.

We came for the Mittagstisch on a Wednesday (reunification day, holiday). The menu has nothing written about no specials on holidays. The server said no specials on holidays, not even the Sunday specials were available. We ended up only ordering appetizers and leaving. Lesson learned: never go to any Indian restaurant in Kiel. Take a trip to Hamburg instead to eat authentic Indian food at...

Wir lieben die indische Küche und darum gehen wir in jeder größeren Stadt zum "Inder". Wir sind noch nie so enttäuscht gewesen, wie dieses Mal... Leider, leider, sehr schade!

€ 110,00 haben wir für 4 Personen ausgegeben, denn wir wollten es uns vor unserem Theaterbesuch so richtig gut gehen lassen und haben darum zusätzlich zu unseren vier Hauptgängen auch einige Vorspeisen und Naanbrot bestellt...

Das Naanbrot hatte leider nicht dieses tolle Aroma aus dem Lehmofen so, wir wir es kennen, schade!!! Es gab auch nur die eine Variante und nicht, wie sonst, welches mit Knoblauch oder mit Nüssen und Rosinen.

Die Pakoras haben eigentlich gar nicht geschmeckt. Der Teig um das Gemüse und das Hähnchenfleisch herum war dunkel und extrem zäh, beinahe so, als wären sie schon mehrfach aufgewärmt bzw. immer wieder frittiert worden...

Auch die Hauptspeisen kamen nicht besonders originell und speziell gewürzt daher. Sie wurden serviert mit einem kleinen lieblosen Beilagensalat, wir man ihn manchmal beim Griechen oder im Steakhouse (dort allerdings besser) bekommt.

Wären die Speisen lecker und appetitlich gewesen, hätte man wahrscheinlich über das staubige, wenig einladende Ambiente hinweg gesehen... So aber fielen die Plastiktischdecken und die Plastikblumen besonders auf.

Der Service war ganz o.k. aber nicht herausragend.

Alles in allem waren wir schwer enttäuscht und können dieses Restaurant daher leider nicht...
