Bäckerei Günther — Restaurant in Kiel

Ich schreibe meine Bewertung auf Englisch, weil mein Deutsch, fuer diese Baeckerei, scheint nicht gut genug zu sein, Broetchen zu kaufen.

I attend a language course um die Ecke, and after asking where I could get something to eat in the area, was told that this place existed. As soon as I saw it, I thought, "Cute, I'm gonna come back here", before I had even bought anything. I walked in was greeted pleasantly. I asked if they had Olivenbrot, and received the response, "Ob wir was haben?", which put my feet on unsteady ground. I'm already nervous about speaking German to an actual German, and this just worsened my nerves. "Ob sie Olivenbrot haben?" "Nein, haben wir nicht." Okay, fine, Broetchen it is. "Koennte ich vier Broetchen haben?" O-H N-O! First mistake. Of course, she responded, I "COULD" have four Broetchen, but did I WANT them? Clearly I want four Broetchen, there's money in my hand, so I clearly want to exchange this money for the bread. I laughed, thinking she was making light of the situation, but her response wasn't what one would expect of someone doing so (ie. not laughing). That was fine, I didn't mind that experience, I wrote it off as a one-time thing. I walked out and I loved the bread, it was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the way German bread is meant to be.

But today I went back, and I wasn't greeted. Instead, I got a once-over by the woman at the counter. After that, she stared out the window behind me, ignoring me. I greeted her and she looked at me. I ordered properly this time, having learned my lesson from last time, with "Ich haette gern vier stueck Broetchen". "Stueck?" she asked twice. Again, this threw me off and set my nerves into a frenzy. It wasn't until I got home and discussed it with my German husband that one doesn't typically ask for any number "Stueck" of Broetchen, one just asks for however many Broetchen.

You know what, you rude, inconsiderate Mitarbeiterinnen (that's right, they were different women each time) at Guenther? This is Kiel. This is a tourist and an Uni Stadt. If you're going to pick apart the language of your customers, you need to get into a different business. The fact that it's your JOB to exchange goods for money means you're reliant on a good reputation and good reviews, so take a class in Kunden-service. Stop nit-picking when a person who speaks your first language as their second-language comes in to order something. Not only were you unfreundlich, you were rude and completely unprofessional.

I have half a mind to go back and start speaking to you in English, and then point out any and all of your mistakes as you try and speak...

Das Essen... ach ja, naja für die Preise, geht so, wenn man öfter oder sogar täglich was zu essen dort kaufen möchte fällt auf, das die Auswahl eher bescheiden ist.

Die Bedienung ist eine einzige Zumutung! - da gibt es auch keine Entschuldigung mehr. Ich hab es bei anderen Kunden beobachtet und es auch am eigenen Leibe erfahren. Hier wird eindeutig nach dem gefallen der Nasenspitze bedient. Gefällt diese nicht, wird es sehr schnell sehr toxisch.

Ich war beruflich dort, ca 2 Jahre in der Nähe beschäftigt, wenn ich daran denke, wie dort mit dem Kunden umgegangen wird, vergeht mir heute noch nach nem guten jahr immernoch der Appetit.

Was bin ich froh, dort nicht mehr mein Frühstück besorgen zu müssen! Der unfreundlichen Dame, von der auch in anderen Rezis die Rede hier ist, sollte mal etwas ihr Verhalten reflektieren und versuchen jeden Kunden gleich freundlich...

Ich habe dort immer meine belegten Brötchen gekauft,ich habe mir am liebsten das knackfrische mit Kochschinken geholt weil dort immer 2 Scheiben Kochschinken drauf waren. Jetzt hab ich mir letztens wieder mal 2 Brötchen gekauft habe bemerkt das sie 20 Cent teurer geworden sind was mich aber nicht stört, was mich daran stört jahrelang bekommt man 2 Scheiben Kochschinken auf dem belegten Brötchen dann wird es teurer und sie nehmen dort 1 Scheibe weg. Hab jetzt 2x nochmals ein Kochschinken Brötchen gekauft immer noch 1 Scheibe. Jetzt ist mir das Brötchen viel zu trocken und such mir ein anderen Bäcker . Sowas finde ich Verarschung jahrelang kauft man immer das gleiche dann wird es teurer und nehmen dafür sogar noch mehr Wurst vom belegten Brötchen, ist eine Schweinerei sowas. Aber mit dem Kunden kann man es...
