Gopalast Leipzig — Restaurant in Leipzig

Written from an American point of view. For the Germans, this place is an amazing, unique experience. I have to admit, the size is impressive: the largest Asian buffet I have yet seen. This is a description of a Friday evening experience. Situated in a strip-mall, restaurant parking is adequate. Germans are not used to paying on entry, but Americans are. Tables have numbers, and little clothespins you clamp to your plate for the Mongolian buffet with that number on it. You collect your items, take the plate to the grill, and then a server brings it to the table. Comments about the wait time are correct: we were waiting up to 20 minutes for the grill food to be cooked & brought. Service staff appears mildly interested, and used plates were cleared within 10 minutes. Comments about servers’ attitudes seem correct. I had asked at the outset about additives, and never got a response from that server. I asked again later, & learned that each offering had numbers to provide information about additives: helpful, because with some health issues, I have to avoid MSG: it was in nearly every product, so I stuck with the grill and a few non-MSG products. The beverages are included, except for alcohol, which is where I suspect they make a large profit. Signs prohibit taking drinks out of the restaurant: I learned they had problems with families smuggling a supply out when they left…. Being a Friday, several large groups were there celebrating their Sabbath, and that’s what led to my conversation with the manager: absolutely no control or supervision of the children in those groups. Kids screaming, running around, and one toddler in a diaper (that’s it) crawling around and handling the plates at the buffet: the adults were too busy on their phones…. Manager said best nights to come are Tuesday to Thursday: we’ll be back to try one of those days, because the children loved the variety and the chance to try new foods like Kangaroo. With fewer people, it’s likely the serving staff and grill cooks will have less pressure, and the buffet will present a cleaner appearance. I would recommend this for Americans, too, as at least 50% of the serving staff spoke English (not the same 50% that were heavily tattooed) For the variety and the ability to choose your adventure, the price is good, even $30...

Wir waren hier immer sehr gerne essen, seit der Eröffnung. Nun waren wir situationsbedingt seit 2022 nicht mehr hier und ich habe mich so unheimlich sehr auf ein Wiedersehen gefreut: diesmal sogar mit Kind.

Das Essen, u. A. wie vor Allem Sushi, verschiedene Sorten Fleisch und Gemüse, Obst, ect waren sehr lecker! Ich bemängele nicht den Geschmack und auch fand ich die Temperatur des Essens in Ordnung.

Selbstbedienung ist hier normal! Wer bedient werden möchte, muss in ein richtiges Restaurant gehen, das ist hier nicht das Konzept.

Jedoch was mir sehr negativ aufgefallen ist, ist die nicht vorhandene SAUBERKEIT. Ich musste j e d e s M a l 5x nach einem neuen Teller greifen, weil die alle verschmiert oder mit Essensresten "beschmückt" waren. Dasselbe gilt für Gläser und eigentlich jede Ecke im Restaurant. Überall standen eklige Wagen die verschmiert waren. Fenster waren wirklich wirklich dreckig (man hat diese vermutlich nur mit einem (dreckigen?) Waschlappen geputzt). Auf der Toilette die Spiegel ebenfalls, der Dreck war so unglaublich sichtbar, dass ich mich schon fürs Restaurant fremdschemen musste und auch vor den Leuten, die ich da eingeladen habe...ich habe nämlich geschwärmt, wie toll und sauber da alles doch ist! Der Spielebereich für die Kinder war auch der absolute Hammer. Riesige Haar-Fussel-Bälle Überall, verschmierte Flecken und Staub ohne Ende sowie irgendwelche Fetzen. Das Fenster vom Spielebereich war sowohl von innen als auch von außen dreckig. Richtig milchig verschmiert....

Wir wollten einfach nur Feedback geben an der Rezeption, ohne böse Worte! Und ohne es böse zu meinen aber das wollten sie 0 annehmen. Laut der Dame, wird 1x die Woche saubergemacht (Spieleecke) am Wochenende und so sieht es "nun mal" bis Freitag wieder aus. Ich kann jedoch erkennen, dass sämtliche Spiegel, Fenster, Ablageflächen und so weiter, seit längerer Zeit oder zumindest überhaupt nicht ordnungsgemäß geputzt worden sind.

Ich würde es dringend empfehlen, das Fachpersonal für die Reinigung zu wechseln. Ich habe dieses Restaurant so sehr geliebt, aber tatsächlich kommen wir erstmal nicht mehr hierher weil wir uns sehr geekelt haben.

Auch fand ich die 36€ nicht mehr gerechtfertigt, selbst das Servicepersonal hat ewig gebraucht, um die Teller abzuholen. Früher haben sie wie die "Geier" geschaut, dass alles rechtzeitig abgeräumt wird. Man fühlte sich gut bedient was das angeht.

Wie es in den anderen Ecken ausgesehen hat, kann ich nicht sagen. Wir waren nur hinten auf der rechten Seite (von der Eingang aus)

Mir tut ehrlich gesagt der Sushimeister und die Köche beim Grill ganz schön leid. Sie leisten immernoch großartige Arbeit, aber eben unter solchen schmutzigen Umständen.

Schade! Sicherlich werden wir dem ganzen noch eine Chance geben irgendwann, aber nicht demnächst.

Ich hoffe ihr nehmt diese Worte zu Herzen, euer Konzept ist wunderbar. Es wäre unglaublich schade, wenn es in den nächsten Jahren vollkommen runterkommen würde.

Very very low quality. We have seen that more than 5000 review with over 4.4 stars, but our experience was very bad. We will never repeat it! Reception: first they will collect your money upon arrival, no welcome, nothing, just how many persons? please pay this amount? and that is it! The team is not smiling at all. No welcome! They seems that they did not like what they are doing. Also the people cleaning our tables, no smile what so ever! Food variety is very low, I have visited many such restaurants in Germany, but this was the lower one. Meat quality is very bad. It is like the cheapest option. The buffet food was very dry. The grill was bad cooked and full of oil. The ice cream is like sugar and color. The cake was solid and not taste at all. The only advantage is the drinks and coffee included in the price. The wash rooms was dirty. We came at 17:30 clock, in less than an hour the whole shop was full and start to be very crowded and dirty. We cannot...
