Schnellbuffet Süd — Restaurant in Leipzig

I found this restaurant from a friend who said: this is where Germans eat for lunch 😎. I ordered schnitzel with pommes / french fries + cold wine and it was delicious 😋. The price and food ratio is super good.

This restaurant has a self service concept while the staffs keeps going around to check if anyone needs anything. How to order? Get in line - look at the menu & what’s available - take a tray - tell them what you want - pick a drink - pick eating utensils - pay - go to a table - eat - put it back on the dirty tray section.

The quality of the food isn't worth mentioning too much. It's middle of the road but in Leipzig where you can pay 12 euros for a similar dish, of similar quality for less of a portion...it works. More important... it's a good atmosphere and has afforded me some of the few positive interactions with German customer service. German cuisine standards. This is a locals' spot. Standard fare. No nonsense. I enjoyed it very much, from the queue and ordering experience to the no-flare, but honest diner-like ambience.

Service was good. I ordered pommes with my Schnitzel which were made on order, so they were crisp and piping hot when I got my plate (nicely done).

They have beer on tap as well as bottled options.
