Panoramarestaurant Bastei — Restaurant in Lohmen/Stadt Wehlen

We’ve dined three evenings at the Panoramarestaurant Bastei while staying at the hotel across. The food is very good, the presentation is classic and the quantity abundant but not excessive. The views from the large windows are absolutely breathtaking. Prices are reasonable, great value for money. Out of the dishes I’ve tried, the sea bass was the best: very good and with many tasty vegetables. Though the menu isn’t restrained, having dined there several times I would have appreciated some more salad options. I would also suggest to risk a little more with the daily menu —the kitchen staff is skilled and can surely prepare a selection of less conventional dishes, just to vary. Nice selection of wines by the glass. The service is outstanding: Ms. T. Knöfel was extremely professional and has a genuine tendency to anticipate the guests’ needs. Such a gifted professional is an uncommonly valuable asset to this restaurant, and could easily work in a 5 star hotel. I can only recommend this restaurant and I look forward to...

Amazing view but not worth coming again. Our waiter rolled his eyes after I told him that I’d like to exchange the “Apfelrotkraut” that contains ham with some other kind of vegetable. He couldn’t offer me anything and wasn’t interested to do so. “Maybe you could put some mixed salad but without dressing instead?” I asked. “Ok, but we can’t do it without dressing.” What? “Don’t you have any peas or anything else?” “No!” So my son got his meal without any vegetables. I ordered fish and what did I find on my plate? Apfelrotkraut! That wasn’t even included in my dish but why the cook put it on my plate I don’t know. The communication between my waiter and the kitchen was obviously disastrous. The food itself was mostly factory made. Very cheap and low quality. If you want to use the restroom: 0.50 Cent. I was there 10 days ago. The view was wonderful, nice food. But the attention was TERRIBLE. Waitress do not paid ANY attention. No one get close to you to ask you if you already want to order. I raised my hand 1000 of times and no one was paying attention. At the end it was raining so together with my husband we decided to get in. Once we were in, a waiter got close to us and told us we can not sit next to the window (he said all tables were reserved). Although I told him we will not stay longer he did not accept. We were there maybe an hour and a half. All that time, most of tables next to the window were empty. The waiter appeared after 20 minutes. I wanted to already leave but I was so hungry that we just stayed and we ordered. At least the food came fast. To get the bill also took centuries.
