China Restaurant Joy — Restaurant in Munich

China Restaurant Joy has a rather unassuming menu, but the real treat is the special dishes on the blackboard at the entrance: here you find some very authentic Yunnan dishes that are quite rare in Germany, such as Yunnan Bridge Rice Noodles 過橋米線, Spareribs with Mint 薄荷排骨, or Chill Tomatoes with Minced Meat 紅三剁. They have a true Yunnan chef, which is quite refreshing given that most Chinese restaurants in Germany are of a similar style. We came with very high expectations. Overall, the style of Rice Noodles is correct, you do get the same sensation as in Yunnan. The pricing seems fair. However, although nothing is wrong with the dishes, they are also not particularly amazing. From zero to one, this is definitely one of the good Chinese rice noodles available. The thing is, there are also a lot of good Vietnamese rice noodles nowadays, and among the bigger competition, it needs more to persuade people to drive...

Do not go there. The food is hit and miss, but the service is by far the worst I have ever seen in my life in over 50 countries.

After we made the initial order, the waiters NEVER came to the table to take away a dirty finished plate. They just kept piling up until there was no space left. They never offered any drinks after we’ve finished ours, never offered the desert menu. It got to the point where I literally had to walk to take clean plates from a counter to replace ours.

And as a cherry on top, when I had to walk up to the kitchen to order the desserts (as the waiters kept ignoring the table), they brought it and only took two plates away so that the desert would fit in, leaving all the other dirty plates lying on the table.

Save your efforts, there are far better restraints in Munich than this with this disgusting...

Location: it is a bit outside of the city but next to U-Bahn station. The restaurant offers private park places for guests, and you could find parking on the street too. (4.5)

Environment: they have a smaller area at front of the bar and a big area inside. Both with windows, the color and decoration is bright and youth. (4.5)

Food: everything is so delicious!! You can just order everything I ordered today, all recommend. 薄荷排骨、腌菜炒肉、过桥米线 are all recommended too. (5)

Service: the owner lady is very nice and welcomed. She gives us good advices. (4.5)

Price: I think it is fine for a decent Chinese restaurant. We only have two person but we ordered too many because everything we wanted to try. (4.5)
