Quietly tucked away in a residential area, not far from the Mangfallplatz station is Limani, an absolute gem of a restaurant, evidently known by those with a deep appreciation for excellent Greek food. We had dinner there last evening in a completely booked restaurant and our group of 16 were absolutely delighted by the quality of the food, the enthusiastic and attentive service and the buzzing energy- I think I counted five birthday celebrations taking place, excluding ours! For each one, the birthday song was played and the restaurant guests joined in, happily clapping along as dessert platters were brought out with sparklers and the celebration table was showered with large sheafs of tissues. I had never seen anything like it! But energy aside, let's go back to the food... I ordered the dorade royale with vegetables. I could not have imagined that I would be writing a review with a tribute to vegetables. I mean, vegetables?! But these vegetables were unlike anything else I've tasted at a Greek restaurant. The carrots were done to perfection, the broccoli and the potatoes made me happy with each bite. And the dessert platter, well, that deserves a whole review of its own! I could not get enough of the chilled Greek honey cake heavily flavored with orange. Or the multi-layer chocolate cake. Definitely would recommend Limani for special celebrations. The evening was well worth every moment and I have no doubt that we will be back again before...
Read moreThis is a very lovely Greek Taverna with delicious food. The restaurant has both inside and outside seating. Outside, a good portion of the seats has protection against too much sun and potentially against light rain. The chairs are wood and from what we've seen, don't have seating cushions, so they are not the most comfortable for seating long. It wasn't a problem for the 60-90 minutes we've spent there to have dinner.
The staff was friendly and well spirited. Our ordered food and drinks arrived quickly and were at the right temperatures.
The drinks we've ordered were mixed well. The starters (fried hot green peppers, grilled octopus) were excellent. So were the main courses (stuffed calamari, lamb skewers with rosemary potatoes and tzatziki). The fries were good as well. The extra request to replace the rice with fries was granted without any complaints.
The location is in the middle of a residential area, so there's no considerable car traffic or noise in the area, which makes this a really nice and relaxed place. The food here is the highlight, so I think we'll be back. Price/value was really fair, as portion sizes were generous, as you can see in the pictures. We'll be back again in the...
Read moreIt was ok. The restaurant was full, you need to think about the advance reservation. It was difficult to speak because of the noise around. We ordered a fish plate from grill for one person. It was only one shrimp, one small fish (tasted like Dorado) and two baby calamari. Not a small piece of salmon. It looked too few, too poor. Eggplants with Szatziki were very good! They agreed to change the deep-fried eggplants into not deep-fried because we didn't specify the order and I didn't expect it comes deep-fried. Very nice from staff. I wanted caramel crème brulee but they don't have one. Panna Cotta was ok, nothing special. Restaurant doesn't propose welcome ouzo at the beginning (rather at the end), there is also no final dessert like a mango cream for example as it is in other greek restaurants. In general the service was ok. The waiters tried four(4!) times to take our plates away despite the cutlery demonstrated we are continuing to eat and just talk. That was funny and a bit annoying. Despite the general atmosphere was benevolent and friendly, it was too hectic for us. I could come again but I...
