Kate - Cafe at the Theater — Restaurant in Neuburg an der Donau

I used to love this place. I used to take all my guests there for an afternoon cake and coffee. Now, unfortunately, the place is not the same anymore. Prices are more expensive, the quality is worse. Teas and cakes around 4,90€. Cake size, especially cake rolls are too tiny for the price. They had 4 cakes as a choice when I was there and all of them were basically same dough and cream with different tastes. The place used to have their own cake production, quite unique ones and super tasty. Now the cakes get delivered from somewhere else. More than 10 minutes sitting at the table with two workers diligently ignoring us. Had to ask for menu ourselves and still no service afterwards. Other tables were served multiple times. Interior is very nice, food and drinks unknown, service non-existent.

Update to response: we were sitting in the dining room on the right, by the window and next to very nice pictures, see attached photo. We did sit ourselves at the table after waiting around for a few minutes in the hallway and the table was yet to be cleaned and remained untouched as we sat around. Even if that was a faux pas, we would have gladly adhered to any guidance to do otherwise from...

Nachtrag auf die Antwort des Inhabers: Nachdem das Café ja nun dauerhaft geschlossen ist, war ich mit meiner Kritik offenbar nicht alleine.

Seit Kate nicht mehr da ist, kann man dieses Café komplett vergessen. Wir haben den neuen Betreibern im Abstand von einigen Monaten immer wieder die Chance gegeben es besser zu machen, allerdings wurde diese Chance nie genutzt. Beim Frühstück wird für eine Abbestellung mehr Geld verlangt, wenn man aber kein Fleisch isst und es nur süße Bowls für Vegetarier gibt, dann bleibt einem nichts anderes übrig. Das Heißgetränk, das angeblich beim Frühstück dabei ist, wurde mit 2,50€ extra berechnet. Die allgemeine Kuchenauswahl hat einige Zeit wirklich zu wünschen übrig gelassen, es gab nur noch Reststücke. Ein anderes Mal wurde uns quasi verboten mehr als zwei Stücke Kuchen zu nehmen, da der Kuchen ja noch bis 18 Uhr reichen müsse. (es war gegen 11 Uhr) Und heute konnte man uns nichtmal die genauen Zutaten des Kuchens nennen. Dass man es nicht auswendig weiß, ist ja in Ordnung, aber man sollte wenigstens irgendwo nachlesen können. Außerdem sind 4,90€ für ein Stück Kuchen auch nicht gerade günstig.
