(I came here for early dinner on a Sunday - as I was by myself, I got a spot without booking, however, all other tables were booked and the place started to be packed while I was there). Being allergic to wheat/gluten, dairy and walnuts I checked their menu on facebook first and was surprised that despite serving traditional dishes, many dishes are gluten free. It‘s more tricky to have something dairy free when eating meat, but they have interesting vegan dishes too. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable in regard to allergies and double check with kitchen staff in case they aren‘t sure about something. The portion size is filling, and my ordered dish was tasteful and flavoursome. I‘ve had a chili that was marked to be piquant (one out of two chili symbols) and at first it was quite mild, however, it got a bit spicier later on. It might still be suitable for someone who is not used to eating very spicy, as the tomato sauce was relatively sweet and it comes with bread as well (that I did not have as it isn‘t gf). The dish was served quickly and was appealingly arranged, served in a steel pan. It was heated through and (as it seems) prepared freshly, and although it was tasteful it was not outstanding or overwhelming. It is good value for money and worth a visit. I am interested to come back and try one of the vegan...

Nach einem erlebnisreichen Tag im Osnabrücker Zoo entschieden wir, meine Ehegattin, unsere Tochter und ich für einen Besuch im 1. Osnabrücker Kartoffelhaus Dominikaner, um den Tag kulinarisch ausklingen zu lassen. Die Anfahrt vom Zoo zum Restaurant war ein interessantes Erlebnis – so viele Ampeln auf so einem kurzen Weg in einer Stadt sind uns bisher selten begegnet. Glücklicherweise fanden wir schnell einen günstigen Parkplatz in einem nahegelegenen Parkhaus, und nach einem kurzen Fußmarsch erreichten wir das Restaurant.

Schon beim Betreten wurden wir von der rustikalen und gemütlichen Atmosphäre sowohl innen als auch außen angenehm überrascht. Das Personal begrüßte uns überaus freundlich, und zu unserer Erleichterung war trotz fehlender Reservierung ein Tisch für uns frei. Zukünftigen Gästen würde ich allerdings empfehlen, einen Tisch im Voraus zu reservieren, um sicherzugehen, dass man einen Platz bekommt.

Das Essen war ein wahres Highlight unseres Besuchs. Meine Frau genoss „Opas Bratkartoffelpfanne“ – eine appetitliche Kombination aus Speck- Bratkartoffeln, Spiegelei, sauren Gurken, Senf und Bratwürstchen. Für unsere Tochter gab es das gleiche Gericht in einer kinderfreundlichen Version, ohne Gurken und Senf. Ich selbst entschied mich für den „Herrenhäuser Schnitzel“ mit Speck-Bratkartoffeln, Spiegelei und Salat. Die besondere Panko-Panade verlieh dem Schnitzel eine außergewöhnliche Knackigkeit und einen exzellenten Geschmack.

Die Portionen waren großzügig bemessen, sodass sicherlich niemand hungrig das Restaurant verlässt. Zusammenfassend war unser Besuch im 1. Osnabrücker Kartoffelhaus Dominikaner ein rundum gelungenes Erlebnis. Leckeres Essen, eine gemütliche Atmosphäre und das überaus freundliche Personal machen den Besuch dieses Restaurant zu einen super Erlebnis. Ich vergebe ohne zu zögern volle 5 Sterne und kann jedem, der in Osnabrück unterwegs ist, einen Besuch...

Absolutely a lovely time - we reserved a table in advance, and despite being a bit later as expected due to traffic, they were more than happy to still accommodate us (a party of 6)!

The staff was very kind and the food was delicious I got the Potato Pizza, and it was worth every bite ;)

The atmosphere is splendid, the table we sat at was a bit tighter so less room to get up, otherwise the vibes were great and it definitely gives off a very rustic German energy!
