Café Milchhäusl am See — Restaurant in Schliersee

Traditional Bavarian café with rustic style right by the lake with a huge terrace. Large selection of food and drinks for breakfast and lunch including cakes and deserts but if you prefer healthier/vegan/vegetarian snacks/food or expect to find plant-based milk, you’ll not get it here.

❎ They only offer cows milk - no alternative for people with lactose intolerance or those that prefer oat, almond, rice milk etc. For a cafe, this is quite surprising. ❎ Very traditional Bavarian food that tends to be heavy, offering little to no vegetarian options. If this is your preference, go to the Camping Ground (15 min walking) on the lake, they offer bowls and salads, or restaurant WALTERS in town (only open in season)

Service and atmosphere: The staff is great and seem like they are happy to go above and beyond to make your experience great. The garden is very nice. You can sit in the shade and enjoy the view of the lake.

Food & Drinks: Iced coffee and Iced chocolate were good. We also ordered Spinach dumplings in butter sauce and it was very nice. However, we also ordered Gulaschsuppe and that was really bad. It's anything but Gulasch. It was sour, with potatoes, red beans, corn and barely any meat. The thing didn't taste at all like Gulasch and I would guess it's chilly con carne from the can warmed up in the microwave. I was a bit shocked as even the small bits of meat (corn size) were more of a texture of meatballs you get from the soup in the bag. It was truly disappointing and caused a heartburn for the rest of the day from how sour it was.

Regardless, nice place and very good service. Just avoid the thing they call "Gulaschsuppe"...

Wir wollten dort gerade nach unserem Babyschwimmen noch einen Kaffee trinken, ein Stück Kuchen essen und unseren Babys etwas zu essen geben. Unsere Bestellung stand schon teilweise auf dem Tisch. Wir sind dann von einem älteren Mann, wir vermuten es war der Hausherr, auf so eine unfassbar unfreundliche Art angeranzt worden, dass wir unsere Kinderwägen aus dem Weg räumen sollen, er will da jetzt Tische hinstellen. An sich ist es ja kein Problem, wenn unsere Wagen im Weg stehen, räumen wir sie gerne beiseite. Das kann man allerdings auch freundlich sagen!!!! Wir sind dann ohne zu zahlen gegangen.

So unfreundlich wurde ich in meinem Mamadasein noch nie behandelt. Sehr enttäuschend!

Chance:

Ich habe dem Milchhäusle gestern eine 2. Chance mit einer anderen Freundin gegeben. Wieder eine Enttäuschung. Diesmal haben wir vorher gefragt, wo wir mit unseren Kindern Platz nehmen können. Erst wurden wir angemault, warum wir eine Maske tragen, dies sei nicht mehr notwendig. Auch wenn die Maskenpflicht aufgehoben wurde, bleibt es noch immer uns selbst überlassen, wann und wo wir eine Maske tragen möchten. Dann durften wir uns in einen Bereich setzen, der aber für die zweite Bedingung vorgesehen war. Tatsächlich mussten wir so lange mit unserer Bestellung warten, bis die zweite Bedienung ihren Dienst angetreten hat. Zudem wollte der Hausherr dann wieder Tische in dem Bereich aufstellen und verdrehte nur die Augen als er uns sah, dabei hatten wir extra gefragt, wo wir uns platzieren dürfen. Das Essen war jetzt auch nicht der Hammer, Gulaschsuppe mit Mais und Bohnen…, Weißwürste mit ekelhaftem Senf (kein bayrischer Originalsenf).

Eine dritte Chance geben wir dem Laden definitiv nicht. Ältere Herrschaften mögen sich dort wohlfühlen, für junge Familien ist hier...
