Ristorante Pizzeria Da Pietro — Restaurant in Schwangau

We were visiting the castles around Schwangau and wanted to eat lunch somewhere. We chose this restaurant because of the high scores on Google, and because, in general, we like Italian food. Unfortunately we don’t speak German and our waiter, as it turned out, didn’t speak English very well. We ordered three main dishes (two pastas and one veal dish) and a soup for three persons. After 1 hour of waiting we asked him why isn’t the soup coming. He apologized, because there was a big group at the terrace, who ordered before us, so the kitchen was busy with cooking their food. I would say, a good waiter would have already came to us and tell us this, before we get inpatient. At this moment we asked him, if he is going to bring the soup before the rest? He said no, together. We asked him to bring it as soon as he can, or take it out from the order, but we don’t want it together with the rest. Why would we want 4 dishes for three persons at the same time? He said he doesn’t understand us. We said, ok, hoping that he understood the first part and he will still bring the soup before the rest. Nonetheless, we received them all together. That’s when we expressed our dissatisfaction to the waiter, who brought out our food, a different one this time, who also didn’t speak English. But at least he called for reinforcements, a colleague who speaks English. And it was she who explained to us that is our fault that the soup arrived together with the rest, because we didn’t say we want it as a starter. I think this was the problem, we didn’t use the magic keyword: starter. But on the other hand, a decent waiter would have asked this, just to be sure, when he takes an order of four dishes for 3 people, one of which could be a starter. At least this is how I saw it happening at other restaurants. Probably if we would have got the English-speaking waiter to begin with, now I wouldn’t be...

The food tasted great. We had some pizzas and some pastas and all tasted wonderfully and were quickly served. Although the carbonara was not that warm it was okay and the bacon was well cooked and very tasty. Also the side dish of extra parmesan was appreciated.

The chef waitress seemed a bit stressed although it was not too busy. The fast delivery and great taste made up for the feeling that gave us.

The real buzz-kill was the smoking. It was a nice late summer’s evening and we sat outside and next to us someone was smoking.

I know smoking was allowed but when someone purposely starts smoking surrounded by others that apparently don’t smoke and you don’t care that your cigarette smoke bothers others 3 feet away and down wind, then it is better when smoking is not allowed. We are on vacation in the area to see the castles and we just stopped in for dinner and everything about it was fabulous! It is a Sunday night in the winter season so we were having a little trouble finding a place that was open. Finally found a place with lights on and people in it, so we decided to try it. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Both members of the wait staff serving tonight spoke very good English and were kind to us.
