Ganesha Restaurant is a hidden gem that I've been fortunate to call a regular dining spot. Conveniently located just a short ride away from Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof, it's an easy and worthwhile journey for anyone seeking authentic Indian cuisine in a unique setting.
Every time I visit, I find myself ordering my favorites: Dal Makhani and Kadhayi Paneer. The Dal Makhani here is, without a doubt, one of the best you’ll find in Germany. The creamy lentils are slow-cooked to perfection, infused with just the right amount of spices and butter, creating a rich and comforting dish that keeps me coming back time and time again. The Kadhayi Paneer, with its fresh paneer cubes cooked in a tangy, spiced gravy, is equally delightful. Both dishes showcase the chef's expertise in balancing flavors and capturing the essence of Indian cuisine.
The ambiance at Ganesha is another aspect that makes it a special place to dine. Housed in a building with old architectural charm, the restaurant combines a warm, inviting atmosphere with a touch of historic elegance. It feels like stepping into a different world, where each corner of the restaurant has its own story to tell.
The service at Ganesha is consistently great. The staff are friendly, attentive, and always ready to make recommendations or accommodate special requests, adding a personal touch to the dining experience.

There are so many curries in the menu I had never heard of before. This was fascinating! I went with a speciality from Ceylon / Sri Lanka: Vendi Curry. I found the flavor of the tamarind sauce spot on! Veggies were cooked to perfection, as well! And yes, it is really hot.
The Butter Naan was huge and nicely cooked. The Mango Lassi was rich in flavor and tasted like Mango (I had so many drinks tasting more like yoghurt than anything else). Again a compliment!
I also tried Samosa and they had been good. Honestly, I had better ones before, but they are definitely worth a try. As dessert their homemade Pistachio Kardamom Ice Cream was heaven!
My friends were equally impressed and we had an amazing time there!
GOOD TO KNOW: If you get menu for 2 people be prepared to not be able to finish it. Some of my friends ordered it and found themselves with FIVE curries (normal portions). They lived it but it was impossible to finish everything.
The staff had been also very forthcoming and they politely waited for us to leave even though we had been the last ones in the restaurant and already past closing hours.

Read moreWe were instantly dismissed by the staff when we entered the place seeking a table and we were told that takeouts were still an option. So we went ahead and placed the order. It was then quite obvious that the place was filled with non ethnic gourmets as the newer Customers (the non South Asian ethnic ones) were given tables. All throughout the duration of our wait for the takeout, the attitude of the waiters was so obviously hostile to us, quite contradictory to their attitude to their more 'preferred' group of customers. And after the food arrived and payments were made this rude behavior took a rather derogatory form and we were warded off with impudent gestures. How is it fair when we, being just as much as a customers and gourmets, be looked down upon and treated like our presence alone was somehow bad for their reputation? I have read so many other similar reviews pointing out this very problem with this restaurant. And as far as food was concerned, it was just another disappointment after an entire evening of disappointments. Now I remember this place as a botched up restaurant with uncivil waiters and insipid food. Never setting...
