TIFFANY'S steakhouse — Restaurant in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Friedrichshafen

[Edited - see owner response] They discriminate against the single guest! I went here on a Saturday evening expecting a nice meal. Despite there being several tables available, it seemed like I was a problem. I was, somewhat reluctantly shown a seat at the bar. I suppose the bar was a foot wide or so. In comparison with the nicely set tables this was definitely a poor, and given the prices unsuitable, substitute. I declined the 'table' and had a very pleasant meal elsewhere. On principal, don't think I'd return even if I was in a larger party.

The owner clearly does discriminate against single guests and admits it in his response. Single guests have to eat their dinner from a shelf rather than a table because the owner is inflexible and has made no allowances for us. The Messe was on (I was attending) but there were several (3 or more) empty tables and it was after 8pm but clearly the owner is a gambling man, hoping that he will fill ALL the other empty tables. Well this time I suspect he lost. Perhaps he might amend his policy. I was welcomed with open arms at another local restaurant and occupied an empty table set for 3. No problem at that...

And I said, what about dinner at Tiffany's?

I first became aware of this restaurant whilst I was doing my due diligence of the area planning my trip. Their self-proclaimed "best steakhouse in Friedrichshafen" caught my eye, and I thought I would test them. Just to make it a fair test, I visited Tiffany's on two separate occasions over the course of my weeklong stay and on both visits, the service and food were fantastic.

The food is well presented, if you're into that sort of thing, but the most important thing in my opinion is taste and quality of the food and they had it spot on.

Is it expensive? Yes, but again, in my opinion, you are getting what you pay for, and in the case of Tiffany's, it's the best steakhouse in Friedrichshafen.

The restaurant does warn you that they get very busy, but on both occasions that I turned up, they were able to accommodate me without booking in advance, but I would certainly check with them in the future.

Will I go back? Most definitely, without a doubt, and I recommend...

Whilst on a business trip to a trade show in Friedrichshaften one of our fellow trade show attendees recommended fanatically that if we wanted the best steak ever then we needed to visit this steakhouse without fail. We knew the location as we had visited the adjoining Tiffany's bar next door the night before in search for cider which we found in a small supply in the form of a European derivative of Strongbow, which was actually nicer than the UK version.

So we went in and had a table for 2 and order a couple of steaks with chips, we ordered some Strongbow to be told they didn't sell them in the Steakhouse but we can go to the bar by the same name next door which shared the same doorway and bring them back. So we did and came back with armfuls of cider to compliment our steak dinner.

After a bit of a long (but well worth) wait our dinner we did indeed fully enjoy the best steak we have ever had.

We will be back next year so a big heads up and get some cider in as we drank Tiffany's bar dry...
