In a nutshell: pretty restaurant, clueless personnel, mild-tasting food, not very authentic, slightly overpriced. The first doubt came when we found that the word Masala on the menu was repeatedly mispelled as ‘Marsala’ (that’s a Sicilian dessert wine, for your information). When we told the waitress, she drew a blank, clearly not knowing what Masala even means. I mean… Next, we ordered a basket of lentils chips with mango chutney. It came with a tiny jar of sweet and sour sauce. When we asked for the chutney, another unaware waiter came back with the same red sauce, claiming, though hesitantly (he didn’t really know), that that was it. I asked an Indian waiter and he asked, laughing, “oh, isn’t it?”. Again, clueless. The samosas were good but quite mild tasting. The lamb tikka was fine but the yogurt sauce tasted of absolutely nothing. The chai (‘marsala chai’ 🤦🏻♀️) was delicious, but overpriced (3,90€ for a coffee-size glass). In conclusion, I will not go back, there are much more authentic and better Indian restaurants in Lörrach and Basel that I way prefer. The prices are close to those in Switzerland, not acceptable. I liked the roti and naan as its from clay oven ( tandoor), butter paneer and chicken masala, bhuna chucken, and for dessert mango cream. Mango cream came as a surprise as it was too good. Overall taste and quality was best. Quantity could have been little better. We have not tried samosa but thats for the next visit. Recommend to book table on weekends as...
