All of the restaurants in town were full (which I understand is typical), and 2 others rudely (or VERY rudely! Zum Fässle next door was shockingly rude! Breathtaking!!!) turned us away. The lady of the house here was still smiling & welcoming even though they were also almost completely full, as was the man, & offered to seat us at a booth seat at the bar, if we liked. We had a LOVELY EVENING! Quite a total surprise, too! Food was hearty, beer was cold, owners and staff from busy downstairs kitchen to green-shirted waiters were all happy, smiling, hard-working CHEERY people. We stayed FAR longer than expected, drank 2 rounds of beer we wouldn't have normally had, had lots of friendly conversations with fellow guests and the staff - even our dog was welcome, and she loved the cozy, private booth/bench at the far corner of the bar. From what I saw, the nicest, most honest and hardest-working staff in Hagnau. We liked their Balkan specialties menu (cevapcici) - the balkan platter for 2 we saw from a distance: amazingly huge meat platter!!! It was awe-inspiring! I had the Schwabischtöpfle with käsespätzle (FILLING!), and my partner had a tomato soup, too, that was fresh tasting and bright. Nice, neighbourly place with WARM, SMILING, WELCOMING STAFF! A rarity in Hagnau! Stayed open relatively late, too (some restaurants closing by 20:45 on a Saturday night, despite having enough captivd clientele for a second seating! Bizarre!). We have been eating in Germany and Austria for 5 days and everywhere was fantastic and the food good to terrific. We are easy going people with an open mind.

This place must rank among the worst waiters Germany. The service was awful.

We tried everything to be nice with the waiter as we speak only english, spanish and french. And he refused to even try and explain anything to us. Ganz ehrlich, bisher habe ich nicht viel bewertet aber in diesen Fall finde ich es schade nicht 6 ☆ vergeben zu können. Doch ich will gar nicht auf dieses schöne Gebäude eingehen die ebenfalls eine eigene Bewertung bekommt den man kann nicht vorbeigehen ohne ein Blick darauf zu werfen. Die Speisekarte bzw. die Speisen sind von sehr guter Qualität auch da möchte ich nicht allzuviel verraten da Geschmäcker unterschiedlich sind, mir bleibt es nur es weiter zu empfehlen.

Jetzt kommt der eigentliche Grund warum ich diese Bewertung schreibe - das Personal - Wirklich ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam. Unsere Kellner heiß Goran und was soll ich sagen - wenn sie ihn bekommen können sie sehr zufrieden sein ohne das andere Personal zu schmälern den dieses Team funktioniert und ich schlussfolgere daraus das das andere Personal ebenso diese Freundlichkeit an den Tag legt.
