We visited this place a few months ago. Food was not bad, but not excellent. A lack of space in the hall - tables are too close to each other and its not comfortable. But what was really repulsive - our waiter, old man (think he is also owner) . He was unpleasant from the beginning, very arrogant and irritated and it discouraged us from visiting this place again.
Reaction to the rewritten version of company's response: although you completely rewrote your original rude response when I pointed out your own absurd mistakes and offensive communication style, but I have it - here it is below, and it speaks for itself. If everyone was good at spotting false toxic persons well and quickly, you probably wouldn't have regular customers. And I write not under a "pseudonym", so you miss the mark again and again)) About your age: I just described what I saw to help other potential visitors - I'm not interested in your passport details.
Initial company's response: ""Dear young boy, our stuff remembers all your 3 visits very well. It was a great challenge for me to stay cool talking to you. It is not a sin to be strange, but of course it is unpleasant to be served by an irritated waiter. Your last visit overwhelmed my patience. I tried to explain to you that your behavior did not suit our Restaurant. But it was in vain. Unfortunately, spoiled children with a lot of money but with a lack of culture come to us sometimes. Mostly once, because I try to do all I can to make them feel uncomfortable. It is very good that you will keep distance from us in the future. ""
Reaction to the Initial company's response: I don't know whom are you talking about - I was only once in your restaurant, and that was more than enough for me. And I am about 40 , so I am not some "young boy")) But your response to me and other reviewers only confirms my and my companions impression about you: your communication style with customers is very disrespectful, rude and toxiŃ. I'm really surprised that someone comes to you...
Read moreWhile enjoying our Foodie odyssey to Weil der Stadt, we finally checked out Restaurant Samowar.
The place is very small, but meticulously decorated with brocade fabrics, carved wood and Russian decor (to include Putin riding a bear đ€Ł)
We went for the dumplings, but they also had other offerings, including soups & salads. They had both Wareniki (Pierogi style dumplings) and Pelmeni (similar to tortellini). There were pescatarian & vegetarian options and different sauces. I felt the traditional meat Pelmeni were the best.
A friend warned us that they donât have great wines, but I was pleasantly surprised that they had some great Georgian wines (amber wine. For reds, the selection was only sweet)
We also did a sweet vodka sampler: normal, chili & one I forgot đ€Ș
At the end of the meal, they served us a Russian Roulette round. 4 shots: one is vodka, the others are Birchwater. Very fun, even if my husband had so much vodka, that he believed his vodka was water đ„Ž
The waiter spoke excellent English. Also, Russian & German. He was so friendly and had a great sense of humor. We even had happy little US/Russian flags...
Read moreWe visited Samowar on a sunny afternoon in fall in the little town of Weil der Stadt. This restaurant is a hidden gem in the heart of this old Kepler city. My daughter worked here and said, âMom, we have to try it out, every time I walk by here it smells delicious!â So off we go! Immediately upon entering Vladi greets us and makes us feel like we are family - it was wonderful. The menu is quite extensive with so much to choose from this authentic Russian restaurant, you wonât know where to begin. So we asked him!
We tried the borscht (beef and beet soup), the bliniâs (wheat pancakes filled with meat and rice) topped with herb mushroom sauce and potato dumplings covered in cheese. With a wonderful selection of teas we were all set. Their dining room is friendly and fun, the service was impeccable similar to up-scale, fine dining in a casual atmosphere.
Samowar is a keeper for sure. I canât wait to share it with you - say hi to Vladi when you go and tell him I sent you! Itâs always...
