Gasthaus "Zum Ochsen" — Restaurant in Wertheim

Atmosphere is perfect, the wooden elements, farmers tools and decor generally really do add to the “German” vibe, giving it that unique look you are most likely searching for, just the way we did. The food, to me, is just perfect… for me this was a 30 minute drive, in a one hour driving range, this is by far the best restaurant I could go to if it comes to German Cousine. I’ve already been here once and sadly did not take a picture of the Käsespätzle Pfanne, which is more than pleasing to the eye. Today, as you can see below, I decided on a Jäger schnitzel. It comes with fries and a bread coating, which in this case is a bretzel coating. It might not look like much but do trust me, you will leave with a full belly. The price is just fine, not cheap but not too expensive… the only thing I wouldn’t be able to talk big about would be the service. They do not check very often, so it might occur that your empty plate does wait about 10 minutes until taken away, which is a bit questionable in a small establishment like this. Zum Ochsen is a lovely, cozy place serving excellent food and beer in Wertheim. The ambience of the place and wall hangings will take you back in time. If you are in Wertheim, do not miss this place. Food is great. One could try the regional Wertheimer cuisine. However, there are only 2 options for the vegetarians. Good selection of beer. Staying this town for a night and want have some white asparagus for dinner. By accident, they offered the dish as today's special. Walking in and pushed a giant heavy doors, lots of people sat inside to have beer a chat. Good atmosphere restaurant! Ordered a tomahawk pork and today's special. White asparagus with hollandaise sauce with potatoes and chicken breast. It was soft and tender. Love it. The tomahawk pork steak was big portion,but tender too. Overalls, the meal were great.
