One of the few authentically jazz loving places in the capital. It’s busiest times are evenings from happy hour times till the crack of dawn. Fridays and Saturdays find this place very packed with nocturnal and soul music lovers.
Like most places in Ghana, the music here is loud. I’m not a fan of break-the-speaker-loudness so I don’t frequent here much. However, the quality of the music is really great. There is usually live music - by bands and performances by celebrities both in the Jazz industry and generic local music. Lots of dancing floor space for those who like to move to the rhythm.
I go there for the food. Orders can take a while as the place gets incredibly busy on weekend nights. I go there for their grills. I’m a carnivore by heart and a foodie by tongue. The best grilled chicken and pork on a stick is found here. A bit pricey, but then again, good things don’t come very cheap. On most nights, there is an entrance fee for seating. It’s partly to pay the performers but also a way to ensure certain customers contribute more than a warm seat. This plays also allows rental of their space for special events. They have quite the outdoor space so makes for a great location to...
Read moreI visited this place on New Year’s Eve, 2024. The food was good, and the service was decent, but my main reason for going was the live band. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with how the night unfolded.
I arrived at 10:01 PM, and the band started playing about 10 minutes after my arrival. They performed for about 25–30 minutes before stopping without any explanation. My friends and I assumed it was a short break, but instead, the DJ began playing music. To our surprise, we had to listen to the DJ’s playlist for nearly an hour before the band returned at around 11:50 PM to play slow highlife music into the new year.
The issues didn’t end there. The fireworks display by the Ghana Army was dangerously close to the crowd. At one point, the fireworks exploded directly into the crowd, landing near where I was seated. This forced them to stop the show abruptly.
It’s crucial to have proper safety measures in place for events like this to avoid putting attendees at risk. Also, considering the economic challenges, paying 200 GHS to attend +233 only to hear a DJ for most of the night, instead of the promised live band, is...
Read moreI recently visited for a live performance by a headline artist advertised to begin at 9:00 PM. While the overall atmosphere was pleasant and the drinks were enjoyable, there were a few aspects of the experience that fell short.
Firstly, there was no prior communication about additional opening acts. While the earlier bands were talented and added a nice touch to the evening, the headline artist only took the stage at 10:35 PM—a significant delay from the advertised time. For guests planning around the scheduled performance, this lack of clarity was disappointing.
Service was another area that could use improvement. Our waiter was difficult to find at times, appeared distracted, and was not particularly attentive. Unfortunately, there were also some issues with the bill, including incorrect charges that had to be addressed before settling.
That said, the venue itself is nice. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the drinks were well-prepared and enjoyable. With better communication around events and a stronger focus on service, there could be a much...
