Arrived after an immensely long flight from Australia to find a shabby tired room with no drinking water and no toiletries. ||||Decided to have a hot shower to ease the aches and pains - funny- I can't seem to get any hot water -cold water is however very generously supplied||||2 days later - no toilet paper....there's a challenge!||||Went to reception to ask for water and toilet paper - first time I've ever had to beg in public for toilet paper - what a 'customer experience' - hurrah!||||Staff quite rightly formed a view that I was being unreasonable and somehow it was my fault....(I guess I should have used my left hand?) Silly of me really to expect that toilet paper and drinking water would be supplied -what was I thinking!||||Promo material says:||||Toiletries - err - no||Hair dryer - err - no||Fully stocked minibar - err - no ||Hot water - err - no - expect a cold shower||Clean linen - err - no||Bottled water- err -no||||Well, don't be too harsh, let's have dinner! beef pineapple curry - what could possibly go wrong? . Thankfully not a pineapple to be seen and if I liked gristle it would have been perfect.||||This could actually be a cool boutique hotel if:||||A- someone spent some money on it||B- staff gave a s**t||||As it is: it is a nasty low budget flea pit. If that's your thing then you're in for...
Read moreI stayed at Highgate hotel in Accra for about 10 days in July 2015. Even though the reception area is a bit dark and shabby, check in was prompt. It’s a shame that they still use manual receipts and all though.||||The size of the room, as well as that of the bathroom, was reasonable, although the room was old-fashioned and didn’t appear cosy due to the plain white walls. Except for a few powercuts and one morning where there was not water for a couple of hours, there were no incidents to be reported.||||Wifi was free, with decent connection speed. However the log in system didn’t always work.||||The dining room was again quite dark and shabby. It seems like the kitchen wasn’t well-provisioned as well as on a few occasions there weren’t even any potatoes/ fruits available. The staff also take forever to assist the guests.||||The location is reasonable and taxis are easily available.||||It’s a pretty average hotel and makes for an ok-stay if you are there only for a few days. The rooms and dining area could definitely do with some...
Read moreThe visit was in April 2015 and i've selected the hotel due to its location and price. The hotel was already paid and originally the placed me in a room that had: old blood stain towels, dirty toilet seat and very noisy air conditioning. I have requested to change room in the beginning the offered me a executive upgrade and i have accepted of course. Next day the management denied the executive room upgrade and provided another room in the same ground floor. The room was next to the power generator which was very noisy. Power cuts were coming and going every 1-2 hours which affected the WIFI as well. The second day since I couldnt work anymore I requested to cancel my booking and move to another hotel. Management were not even bother to ask me why because the hotel was already paid. I am usually a very easy going business traveler in the whole sub-saharan Africa but such behavior and service was the first time I encountered. In the end I paid more to move into...
