Don’t miss it! At Sakura Sushi and Steak House the ambiance is both inviting and intimate, reminiscent of a cozy home setting. The menu combines excellent ingredients, expert preparation, a warm atmosphere, and reasonable pricing, making it a must-visit destination for lovers of Japanese cuisine in Athens. While the quality of the food and service is top-notch, we have noted that the prices are fair, reflecting the good standards maintained. My best dishes are: Ediomae and Kaiseki -style sushi, royal scallops in yuzu and soy sauce with ikura, and tuna tartare with fresh onion, garlic, yuzu juice, and tobiko with a modern twist on this classic Japanese dish. Last but not least I love the "Red Dragon" roll, featuring eel, cucumber, avocado, and tobiko,It offers a delightful fusion of textures and flavors. I feel sorry that I didn’t have my phone to capture the dishes. I will definitely do it next time...
Read moreWe ate last night in Sakura. 2 couples. First impression that it provides a sense of protection against COVID by allowing spacious table arrangement. Second impression that everything related to fish is very fresh. I have not felt this in other places. For a starter we had a salad with Wakame seaweed with unagi, caviar & eel sauce. Very nice intro to what was going to follow. We had a selection of nigiri (calamari, shrimp, tuna, salmon) by the chef that was very tasteful. Other dishes with eel (nigiri) , bluefin tuna (sashimi), scallops and rolls with tempura shrimp. We ordered some of them twice once they were very good. We accompanied these by ATMA white whine and a "New York" type cheesecake. Friendly service and discrete covered whatever we asked for. The conclusion is that this is Value for Money. The taste and freshness of the dishes could be paid multiple times in another...
Read moreI chose this place because it had an incredible number of 5 star reviews. The service was adequate and the atmosphere was pleasant.
The food was insultingly bad. Have a look through the photos to see how inconsistently the sushi was cut. The rice was was sticky and clumpy, caused by overworking the rice when mixing in the sushi-su. Most horrendously, the eel was accompanied with hoisin sauce (commonly used with duck), rather than the very simple 4 ingredient authentic sauce. The price was quite insane taking this into consideration, and is why I describe the food as an insult.
The only redeeming factor with the food was that the fish...
