Vounaki — Restaurant in Chios Municipality

Vounaki came highly recommended by locals as the place for the best chicken on the island and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. Even though we arrived without a reservation, we were lucky enough to be served, which was a pleasant surprise.

The chicken was flavorful and perfectly cooked. One point for improvement would be clearer communication: since the chicken dishes already come with potatoes, ordering an extra side isn’t really necessary, especially as it’s charged separately at €4.

On our second visit, we tried both skewers and wraps. The meat was of very good quality, prepared exactly on time as promised, though the prices felt slightly on the higher side for these items.

That said, the overall experience was definitely worth it. For anyone visiting Chios, Vounaki is a spot you should try at least once to enjoy some of the island’s best...

During our visit to Vounaki, my wife and I—both gluten sensitive—were warmly welcomed. We had brought our own gluten-free pita bread and kindly asked if our gyros could be served using it. The staff responded with genuine kindness and smiling faces, happily accommodating our request without hesitation. It was a simple gesture, but it made a huge difference in our dining experience.

We strongly recommend Vounaki not only for its tasty food but also for its respectful and inclusive service.

We also hope that more restaurants and food kiosks consider offering gluten-free options—perhaps at a small additional cost—so that people with dietary restrictions can enjoy local flavors...

best place to grab a bite, I eat there almost every day or every other day, food is delicious and inexpensive I love the souvlaki pork and chicken the grilled chicken (spasti), loukaniko, salad, portions are very healthy so you're probably order more than you can eat. I usually order two sticks or a gyro and a stick, or luokaniko, the french fries and salad portions are too big for one or two people so unless you're really hungry or love fries and greek salad don't order it. Service is usually quick and good and at the same time you can watch the chaotic traffic that seems carefully choreographed going...
