I first arrived on Ikaria with what I thought was a decent understanding of delicious souvlaki. My expectations were blown out of the water by what may have been a serious religious experience, or at least the best gyro-veg-fry in a pita experience of my 31 years if existence.
Our food came out quickly along with our ice cold Ikariotissa Beers. The attention to detail in the assembly of the souvlakia was evident as each wrap looked like a picture in a magazine. The taste was above any expectations I could have had. Words will not adequately describe the depth of the flavor profile found inside a Ma'Mu souvlaki.

This was our favorite dining experience on Ikaria during our 10 day visit. We ordered two of the platters for 2 people (only 8 euro per platter) and we each had so much food, we should have shared one! The cheese sticks with strawberry and mint were delicious and unique. And some wonderful locally made beer. So much more on the menu I would have loved to try.
